Universal is sooo jealous!

Incase anyone is wondering, i'm at Universal today. On a break at the hotel while my cheap-o easycam pics develope at walgreens. Enjoyed IOA this morning.

I like some o Universal's stuff, but the commercial did make me do 1 day instead of two, and that was almost canceled as well. It just looks like blatant sour grapes. Bitter bitter ones at that.

Plus, some things they do, like major backstage access doors wide open in IOA and paint missing from columns in Suess Landing - not chips, more like 1x1ft surface areas - are things i know would never fly in Disney, whereas if you ask a universal employee they dont seem to care.

Alas - Mythos was outstanding (they cheapened the menu overall, but if you buy the good stuff it still rocks) as usual, so i will still be going back to IOA until they shut that place down.

Additionally...

Mythos has a banner by the entrance touting "Best Theme Park Restaurant by..." blah blah, for years 2003-2005, but only operates from 11:30 to 3pm. Aint that odd for the number 1 restaurant?

Maybe they're jealous... or maybe they just want to take a healthy stab at competiton that everyone knows is bigger than them, and there's no hiding it. It's a competition. Some of you need to get a grip.

And I'd love to see this 1x1ft of missing paint. Yeah, that's real believable.

There's a difference in a competition and competition.

A competition is akin to a high school wrestling match.

Competition is people or corp.'s in the same business as you are in.

And it's considered bad business to talk bad about your competition.

Disney is so much more than just "teacups" and "singing dolls"! They might lack thrill rides, but their rides are so much better themed than Universal.

Ex. Splash Mountain VS Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls(Have you seen the lame animatronics in this?)

No one should worry about poor, unethical advertising from Disney's competion. Disney has the best, NONE better, marketing department. Thankfully the company has enough class to keep their commercials clean.

As far as my opinion is concerned, none of these other companies are close to Disney's realm of entertainment - and don't worry because they never will reach this level. :king:

Well, go look on the columns holding up the entry sign to Suess Landing from Port of Entry - particularly the one closest to Green Eggs and Ham.

You mean the one that seemed to forget that there were characters other than Stitch?

Universal's commercials are clean. How many times have you seen coke commercials have both Pepsi and Coke in them, and one of them is being made fun of? How many fast-food chains advertise how much better they are then the competition? No one seems to get mad when their favorite burger joint is made fun of. It's all advertising people. It's nothing personal... it's just business.

Honestly I think the commercial was funny, and I think the "un-Disney" turn that Universal advertises now is innovative as heck. The best audience for Universal are those who DON'T LIKE DISNEY! And the sooner Disney fan-boys can get that into their heads the sooner they will stop crying about Universal is picking on Disney. All Universal is playing to a market's beliefs. Just deal with it.

universal dos not pick on disney far from it. Universal understnad that disney wasnt there that they would loose about 75%+ of there figures but at the end of the day all the advert is bit of fun, i dont see what people are complaing about .

I'm going to IOA this saturday...

I'll be heading to IOA on saturday for a school field trip. I'll most likely wear my gold mickey ears....lol We'll see how that goes.

Ok, I can see wearing a mickey shirt or something, but bring mickey ears into the park? Whatever, believe me when I say Universal understands that if Disney was not here, they would not be either, but they do have to show that it is a different kind of resort and I think this does a very good job of it. I think you guys need to realize that and get over it. Disney is not the best thing on the face of the planet, neither is Universal and neither of them ever will be, its just a theme park.

I agree that bashing Disney is not a good marketing plan, but look at how they got us all talking about it. Isn't that kinda the point?
*ding ding ding* :D

And if enough people go from talking about that place with the weird ads making fun of Disney to wondering why they compare themselves to Disney to deciding "Let's spend a day there while we're in Orlando," then the hook has worked.

None?

Didn't nothing work when Universal opened because they po'ed all of the construction crews? I know Jaws didn't come online for a while and neither did Kong...

So, maybe the cartoon ride? I think BTTF came later, as did ET.
