That's the final thing? Not a work in progress?
The back grounds look great but spidey himself looks awful, he doesn't look part of the background he looks completely separate.... My opinion is that he looks worse than he ever has.... Clear cut case of if it ain't broke not fix it!!!

He looks so is fake he looks like a soft toy spidey you win at the carnival!

Have to remember, this is going to be 3D... Spiderman is not supposed to look like he is landing on the ground in the alley.. he is landing on either the ladder in the show scene or on top of ur car... that's why he looks withdrawn from the background... This will look just fine once the film is 3D converted and you are in the ride vehicle with ur 3D glasses on....

Does anyone know an EXACT date for Spiderman closing? I keep hearing the first two weeks of Feb. and possibly closing Feb. 8. Our one day trip to Uni/IOA is currently scheduled for Feb. 9 and I need to know if I have to rearrange our plans for that week to get there before the 8th. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I will try to find out for you but figure beginning of February... The refurb is due to last 6 weeks... Easter is April 8... I'm sure Universal wants Spiderman up and running by then... And since they said the refurb will be done and the attraction re-opened in March, beginning of February is a good time period to figure on... I'll try to find out the actual date if I can, for you... But figure February 8 to be as close to exact as we may get right now...

Spiderman will be closed most of February, with the 7th being the last day it is currently planned to be open.

All of it looks very good......................... save for my concern over this night show. It all comes from my extreme dislike of waterfall screens. We attempted a little project at work with them but abandoned the project. If this is what I think it is, they could have some bad nights with this show. I just think it would be wiser to use mist screens instead; which I think are more reilable. Fountains are nice, though I think they could stand to have used less and use different kinds of fountains. Right now they just appear to have a ton of fountains that do the same thing. But hey thats just my prefrence. And why is the fact that Morgan Freeman will be the narrator so amazing? Its no big deal when you think about it. Morgan Freeman already narrates the life of every single person on Earth, you just aren't listening.

Otherwise, Spiddy looks really good to me. It looks much better then before. And I mean its not meant to look like movie CG.

Rest of it, no real opinion.

Universal's press release: a whole bunch of welcome additions and changes!

Disney's press release: uh... ride our rides for 24 hours.

Disney doesnt have to announce things just cause Universal is. Universal doesnt have to do anything cause Disney does stuff. They play their own games. Thats the way you run a park. Yeah, you keep your eye on the competition. But your competition does not drive you to make decsions. You make your own choices based on your own situation. You never retaliate in the amusement/theme park industry. Its a first class ticket to financial ruin.

Which were announced... how many years ago?

So what?

And I still dont understand why they dont run this show year round. Disney usually runs their shows 365, with exception of Fantasmic, though I think thats back to normal. Ive been telling people for years that they needed some kind of show to run year round.

I have to say that the announcement sound pretty exciting, and will last them just until they are ready to announce a Wizard expansion this summer.

New parade vehicles are already on-site, parked behind the Simpsons attraction building under car ports (they're openly visible from backstage and the Simpsons guest exit ramps).

Did you see them from Simpsons as a visitor or do you work there??? Cause I have a question about the floats...

Sounds like there are some good reasons to check out Uni later this year. As long as they keep adding and plussing, I don't know when I'll get back to WDW.

I do not know if Universal had/has this in mind but they are really smart to debut this new parade and nighttime show this year knowing how bad WDWs current entertainment is. I am not sure how good this new parade will be but I hope it blows all of WDWs parades out of the water... Which will not be hard to do

Based on the concept art it does not exactly look like it but it would be cool if the new nighttime show was like World of Color... Or at least close to it.

I was gonna try and go see them tomorrow cause I work there and haven't seen them yet. What's your question so I know what to look for?

Do the floats seem to be easily changable? What I mean is, can the theme of the float be changed rather quickly.... I only ask because HOP seems to be only a seasonal theme... I feel adding HOP into the parade was a way to 1) promote the DVD/Blu-Ray release and 2) have an Easter theme for the parade as it debuts in the Spring... Once Easter is over and summer begins, I wonder if Hop will be switched out for something else... Oh and if you can get some pics without risking your job.... :)

Because it is expensive. Regardless of what people think of WDW's current entertainment offerings, no other park comes close to offering the number of parades, firework shows and live entertainment that WDW does.

Is the announcement date really relevant? You obviously cannot announce a $500million expansion and have it open the same year. Fact is Universal have what looks like some good smaller offerings opening this year that they have just announced, and WDW have a large expansion opening this year. Your post was implying that all WDW has this year is a 24 hour opening.

And doesn't Disney, during off season, cut down on the amount of night time shows? I know during the very busy times the shows are nightly, but off season, aren't they only certain nights? I don't find anything wrong with that, especially with the parks closing early during off seasons....

I suspect Universal is going to follow the same pattern. Nightly during busy times and weekends during slow times with the possibility of the night show running if hours have to be extended due to crowd demand...

Nope, to me, announcement date isn't relevant... I think the consensus though, across the internet is, Disney says BIG announcement, and the announcement on New Year's Eve was a dud... They didn't try to temper expectations... they WANTED the hype... And it backfired... Universal only says there is an announcement.. They never mentioned BIG... Fans tried to make the announcement bigger, and Universal stepped in and said, wait noooo not big... Just an announcement, tempering expectations... And they still generated a lot of online buzz, all positive...

Yes, I blame Disney for trying to hype something what wasn't such a huge announcement as they tried to make it... Instead of using the social media to calm down the buzz, they allowed the community to get into a rabid obsession and set unhealthy expectations, which set the fan community up for a let down... And allowed people who always saw things through pixie dusted glasses to really start seeing Disney as something other than perfect.. I mean, look at some of the posts here lately... You are finally starting to see some negative feedback about things a lot of us have been complaining about for months...

Universal are doing things right... Disney? All wrong... And it is going to catch up to them...
