Apparently, Uni has acquired the theme park rights to DC Comic characters (such as Superman and Batman) through an agreement inked with Legendary Entertainment. I believe this agreement extends the DC character rights to Uni theme parks, in addition to the one already in place with Six flags (acquired through Time Warner).

This, of course, does not invalidate their Marvel rights, but it clearly gives them backup in case they ever decide to give those rights up. If they ever do forgo the Marvel rights, Disney would, by default, gain the theme patk rights for those characters east of Mississippi, including WDW.

Not true not true not true why does this newspaper exist?

Acutually, this is 100% true. There is plenty of legitimate and reputable media coverage of this deal.

It is reported that under the terms of the deal Universal and Legendary will jointly identify opportunities to expand Legendary's franchises and intellectual property into Universal's theme.

Here's hoping for a Batman attraction featuring Bane. Or an Inception dark ride.

It is wrong... Legendary does not own the rights to Batman or DC... Warner Bros. does...

Godzilla, Pacific Rim... they are in play for IP that Universal can use... DC Comics is a different beast...

Now, question is, does the deal also include Legendary's comics? The Tower Chronicles and Shadow Walk?

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS IS NO CLOSER TO AQUIRING IP TO DC COMICS THAN THEY WERE BEFORE THE LEGENDARY PICTURES DEAL. WARNER BROTHERS OWNS THE DC COMICS IP. IF UNIVERSAL WANTS TO USE DC COMICS INSIDE THEIR THEME PARKS, THEY WILL NEED TO CUT ANOTHER DEAL WITH WARNER BROTHERS.

Yes, Legendary Pictures is going to be working with UC on potential future projects. That is why they cut the deal with NBCU. But DC Comics IP was not part of this deal.

Now I get why everyone was so cranky on the Theme Park rights for Uni/Marvel. Folks run with some insane crap.

Legendary was just a financial investor for the Nolan Batman movies, not a content owner.

Although I do wonder how the on-going relationship will be with Comcast taking away the Warner Brother's checkbook. Will they be bitter and refuse future content deals or do they care since they have already replaced the money with other investors?

Can I still have my Inception dark ride at least?
Only if Legendary owns the IP... Warner Bros. was involved with Inception as well.. So it depends if Warner Bros owns the rights or if Legendary does... Though I thought I saw somewhere Legendary does own Inception... If so, then an Inception dark ride could be pretty interesting... But I wouldn't hold my breath... I think you'd see Pacific Rim or Godzilla before Inception...

Yes, but Legacy acquired the non-exclusive rights through Time-Warner, most likely. They, therefore, have the right to act as a third party and extend those rights to anyone they want without the approval of Time-Warner.
