Hi All,
I was wondering - if there was a feature in a magazine every other month regarding Orlando - Disney, Universal, Sea World etc then what would you like to see featured for UK guests??

What topics would you want to be covered that perhaps are not done in enough detail for UK guests? What would you find interesting to read up about? As a UK visitor to Orlando what info would you find usefull? Perhaps travelling with young children, or the value resorts etc etc.

Id like to know as there may be a slight possibility that there could be an article appearing every couple of months or so in a fantastic new magazine all about Orlando.

Let me know guys!

Thats great - and the forums are fantastic places to get info. However, i know many people who go to travel agents picking up new holiday brochures and looking through them (just to get a bit of a Disney buzz) even though all the info generally doesn't change from year to year.

Sometimes i think its nice to have something solid and glossy in front of you with all the sort of info that isnt included in a brief brochure overview. So anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to topics?

Cheers,

I agree. I love to see brochures and magazines, its part of the build up but they are limited in info in the uk. I would like to have seen (before I got the info off here)

Magic Hours - what are they, when are they and how do I get them.
Party details - when are they, ticket information, whats included
Restaurant infromation - themes, booking information, photos of interiors
Tickets - how much, what do I get, can I go from park to park. Maybe a price comparsion between organisations (we get them cheaper in the UK)
Character meets - who can you see and where
Best times to go - least crowded, most crowded, best time with kids and without
Dress codes - what to wear not just during the day in the park but restaurants, parties (fancy dresss) etc
what to avoid - like cheerleader invasions and when they are likely
New additions - attractions, parades etc
Parade routes
Tips on how to do the park in military like manouvers to spend the least time queing

...........yeah ok I'll stop now until I think of more :veryconfu

One thing I always comment on about brochures etc is that they never do the hotels justice! There are a lot of misconceptions about Disney over here that just are not true! I have to battle them daily just with my family!

My dad seems to believe that staying at the Disney resorts means complete Disney overkill. He thinks Disney would be rammed down his throat at every opportunity, and that he would wake in the night to find Mickey stood over him! I think we need more info on what the hotels are REALLY like! He was amazed when I told him about WL and FW!

Also, I have never seen any readily available info on the Disney parties or, for that matter, any parties at any of the other parks, such as US's halloween party. We only know about them from these boards!

Basically, Britain is about 3 months behind the USA when it comes to Disney news and rumours and it would be great if we were kept a bit more up to date about it all!

Ah yes. This is too true, and probably the main point to work from.

Everytime I come home from WDW (or just Florida in general), I am always interrigated about it by friends and colleagues who already have assumptions.

It's hard to get all that info over to them. I think you're kinda right, a lot of it is about reassurance, that the visitors won't be submerged in 'that' assumption of Disney (that it is all over the top or childish or whatever...), and actually they won't even staying at Disney 24/7.

If this is for Orlando in general, definately mention the other attractions that are not Disney. Because I see a lot of people who think that there is nothing but Disney in Orlando, and that's kinda not true.

If people are not already interested in Disney, the other attractions are a big incentive to visit the area and do.... BOTH. If like me, you travel a long way, you want to spend a long(ish) time there to get your air-miles worth, and you will have the time to do a few other days outside of Disney.

Edit: Can you mention how you can get around Florida or Disney, either by car, resort transport etc...

And on the flip-side of the coin, there are many Brits that think that everything in Orlando is Disney. There's been many a-time that I've had to correct people that thought their MYW tickets would get them into Universal or SeaWorld.

Yes. Another reason why this should be highlighted. What there is to do, and what tickets you need to get to go where....
Buy 'em all! What harm can it do? :)

Which is probably part of what motivated Steve to start this site in the first place! :D

This site is UK based

This site is, yes, but the only other person that I know who visits these boards is my DH and it was him that introduced me to them. I've told other people to have a look and I have yet to find anyone who has heard of this site. And those I do tell don't come on here. I guess they are worried that they will become - I don't know - Disney Dweebs or something!

Disney just doesn't seem to be "cool" over here and if you say that you love it (as I frequently do) people tend to think you're very, very weird, or at best, very childish.
