TV's In Queue Lines Needed

I would also vote no for tvs. Lines were origionally designed by Walt to give guests a chance to converse from people from other parts of the country and world. [Obviously not the fact that there was a line, that is unavoidable, but the switchback fashion of many of them.] And even if you don't talk to people you don't know, the lines in Disney World were where my parents had a chance to catch up with me and find out who I really was and notice how I had grown. Not that they didn't talk to me in life, but it is different when you have a block of set time that you can't do anything in.

Just my thoughts. :)

I think we should all chip-in and buy Crockett one of those little hand held tvs to use while in line at WDW.

No tvs. When we find ourselves in long lines, we people watch. You see a lot of mighty strange things out there....

True, true.....I forgot to add that to my list. I'm not sure there could be anything more entertaining while waiting that people watching! I am thoroghly entertained by that no matter where I go, LOL.

I think I would need to poke my eyes out with glowing hot iron rods before wanting to watch TV while in the parks at WDW. I am not against TV monitors around showing something that pertains to the specific attraction like Snow White on the Snow White ride or classic Disney cartoons and movies. However, I do not want the outside world inside my fantasy world. If you need or want to see outside television, go back to the resort or one of the resort bars.

There are TV's in the queue for Disney Junior Live on Stage, and it's always helpful since the attraction is a show, and if you don't make it into the first one, it's quite a wait for the next. However, the theme of the attraction is basically TV shows, so it seems fitting there.

I can't really think of anywhere else that TV's would seem appropriate at this point. Many attractions already have other forms of entertainment. Although, a TV at the current Dumbo might benefit the parents trying to keep their children entertained for the long wait. Hopefully the FLE fixes that!

TVs in line? Not unless they fit the theme. In the American Idol line -- sure. Even the TVs in the KS line are OK, becuse the theme is a game reserve and the videos they play educate you about the reserve and the animals. But TVs that play advertisements, or music videos? Please no.

The interactrive queues they are installing are the right answer here. Make the queue part of the story, not a waiting area where people must be entertained. And if you don't like the Dumbo queue today, just pull out your smartphone and what or listen to whatever you like.

One thing I haven't seen anyone mention is the old queue for Space Mountain. It had tvs placed inside along the queue just before you got on your rocket that played a 15 or so minute loop of some really great themed news, commercials, and programs. Nothing real world aside from the FedEx integrated "commercials." it was all completely themed news stories about the galaxy and such. I thought it was great.

Edit: oops, just saw Tigger's post. Great minds and all...

No. Can you picture the Pirates queue with televisions?

No, no, no.

However, everyone who wants to check out of the immersion should do like I do and bring along a smart phone. Netflix FTW.

For instance, in Frontierland, only show Texas Rangers ballgames (or other western teams) and so on.
As a massive Rangers fan, seeing my team up on big screens in the Thunder Mountain line sounds like the beginning of the end of what makes Disney parks great.

Just because they play in east Texas doesn't mean they fit the setting of an early 20th century mine in Utah.

For example, Beiber would definitely be inappropriate for, say, a Fantasyland attraction, or something like Soarin'. But if he were singing a western song or something similar, then he'd fit in Frontierland for either Splash or Big Thunder. As long as it *fits* the theme of the area.
When I get to the end of this thread, am I going to find out I'm being trolled? Because I feel like I'm being trolled.

The switchback line was not invented by Walt Disney. That's a stretch that the queues were designed for that pourpose, especially since Disneyland wasn't anticipated to be an international destination.

But looking at this from a paying guest's point of view: Would this generate enough revenue for the parks that we could *possibly* see price breaks in other areas? Having a full year go by without a ticket price hike would be well worth the commercials in my book.

That would never happen. They'd take the money from the advertisers and still raise prices on "guests."

He also stated that the Haunted Mansion needed to add an Eddie Murphy AA so yeah, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say troll.

No thank you. I go to WDW because its not Six Flags or Universal.

Oh I agree. The following pictures are very Six Flags-ish. Not too much theming was put into IOA at all. :ROFLOL:

^This last pic is why Universal is kicking Disney's butt in merchandise sales.

What are ticket increases? $1-$3?

So you'd spend your whole vacations watching commercials, while it was ruining the theme, to save $1-$3 dollars a day...?

You can see in the 2nd one on the portrait on the right, the finish that is put into the image. It looks like a real oil painting. So yes, these are technically all flat screen TV's, but they are essential to the story and theme of the ride/books/movies. I don't think the castle would be complete without them.

It's their opinion, relax. This thread isn't about Universal.
