Tutto Or Coral Reef?

I would go with Coral Reef too. The atmosphere is so truly unique and magical. Our meal there last fall was outstanding too. I haven't cared for Tutto Italia since it switched over from Alfredo's.

Anyone know the current status of Tutto Italia? I was told last year it was shutting down in Spring 2008 for renovation and reopening in late 2008 under a new name. However, it's still open and taking all ADRs from what I've heard.

Coral Reef atmosphere is great. Great food too. And I just found out you can have the menu made with you pics and words. Still waiting to hear from them.

Another vote for Coral Reef.
Neither is in my top 10 list, but the ambiance of Coral Reef is special. Food is decent. Living in a place where I have access to great Italian food...I have a very hard time paying Tutto prices for average offerings. Inside of the dining area is beautiful however.

Haven't been to Tutto yet but having looked at their menu there's nothing on it that would make me bypass the crab legs at Coral Reef. Another Coral vote.

I've experienced both a total of one time. I prefer Coral Reef, food-wise. And, atmosphere-wise as well, mostly due to the BMW scenes.

The quality of the food at Coral Reef may not match its prices.... but you can't beat the Coral Reef's Atmosphere! It's one of those special experiences that you can only get at WDW (unless your local aquarium happens to have a fancy sit down restaurant in it).

Such an atmosphere is the same reason why I eat at the Sci Fi once per trip, even if the only things I really like there are the onion rings and milk shakes.

Never go back to the reef

I think the Coral Reef is incredibly themed but between the service and the food it's off my list to ever go back. Our mere presence seemed to annoy the CM's. I had to say excuse me to get the Hostess attention. I'm 6'2'' and topped out at 260 lbs. I'm tough to miss when I'm only 3 feet away. We asked for a seat by the tank but were told there were none. For some strange reason they were seating families in the back and couples by the tank go figure. Menu was small and service was poor, again we had the impression we were not wanted. Maybe we hit a poor shift. If you never have been go the kids didn't care about the service or food they got to watch the fish swim by and feel like they we eating under water. Something they talk about 2 years later.

We only went once, and we were seated directly on the glass. While it was unique, and very cool at first, by the end of the meal we felt a little overwhelmed. Every couple of minutes a different small group of children would come and sit at our table, not realizing that they were indeed in a restaurant. It was cute at first, but eventually it was really unnerving.

I originally had dinner ADR's at Tutto, when I read about the Coral Reef. Now, I made my ADR's at 180 days out. I read about Coral Reef at around 160 days out. I called every day until around 130 out, I got the same woman twice, who suggested doing a late lunch at Coral Reef. She found a spot for us at 3, and said the only difference on the menu between lunch and dinner is prime rib (not offered during lunch).

So...hopefully, I made the right call here!

I found the Coral Reef to be very disappointing. It looks nice visually, but once you get past that, it all goes down hill, and is severly overpriced.

Food quality recently is poor. In particular the fillet steaks have been replaced with not very good $30 New York strips. The potato served with that seemed directly out of a packet. The chocolate wave dessert is small, not very tasty, and way overpriced for what it is.

Service was slow, and not up to the level of other sit downs.

The place often resembles a kids school lunch room, with littles runs running around and screaming, and coming right up to your table to take photos of the fish.

So far, the Coral Reef is my least favorite of all WDW's sit downs, and certainly the lowest qaulity of the Epcot restaurants.

Definately Coral Reef; the last time I was there Mickey swam by the window and waved at us. When they call your name, request a tank side table and they should arrange that for you. We asked and they took us to the table where they seat all the celebrity guests. It was way cool.

Can anyone confirm if the lunch menu at Coral Reef recently changed. I noticed that the Mahi Mahi dish for dinner (via Allears) was no longer the honey soy glaze with couscous. My wife and I had that last year and had made ADR for this year to eat there specifically for this dish.

It's replacement didn't look as appetizing. Just curious since we'll want to reschedule our ADR if there really isn't anything that strikes our fancy.
