Trip Report Tu in ‘25

Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will rise
Tu in ‘25

These lyrics came to mind when I thought about my trip reporting. (I also thought, Here we go AGAIN but the above sounds much more poignant.) It’s now that time of year when my Disney trips are frequent. And this Disney Senior loves sharing her visits with y’all because your engagement makes it fun!

Yes, there will be stuff that’s the same. Yes, there will be surprises (too soon for the reveals). And yes, there will be sun rises!

Spring break countdown is at 4 days.

Since this intro needs a picture, here are Tu.

Em and I spent a couple hours at the pool.

The sun was warm, the water was refreshing and the pool area was not crowded at all.

The only negative was the super loud music and the pool games. It’s not so much the activity we hate, but the VOLUME of the sound system, which makes it hard to read and relax. POFQ only has one pool and is the reason we no longer stay there during spring and summer, when pool time is a priority for us. The resort needs (and has space for) a quiet pool, which will never happen because POFQ guests are able to use POR’s quiet pools.

Sorry, we’re not walking 10-15 minutes to use another resort’s pool.

I had been craving Mexican food so for tonight’s dinner I booked an ADR here:

We drove to Coronado Springs and in an effort to avoid the line at the guard shack we ended up parking in the convention lot, resulting in a convoluted walk to the restaurant.

It was totally my fault and I promised Em that won’t happen again. :angelic:

Maya Grill had a lovely Dia de los Muertos display.

We were seated near the windows overlooking El Centro and Lago Dorado. While scenic, Em thinks CSR does not have a Disney feel and has no desire to stay here again. I can’t even convince her to try the tower, which I really like.

Our server was….fine. But the food was delicious and hit the spot. We shared the Chips Duo and the Chicken Fajita with a side of guacamole.

It was plenty of food for the two of us but I suspect we would have had better service had we ordered separate entrées, alcohol and dessert. 😉

Emperor's New Groove is a family favorite of ours. Em and I saw those at WoD, and Em loved them, but WOW that price is ridiculous.
That HAS to be marked wrong…right? RIGHT??? 😳
That was my thought!

$49.99 was the price in all the stores where we saw the small shoulder plush of Devil Kronk and Angel Kronk.

Some on eBay are down to $30. I’m sure these will end up shortly in the Character Warehouse Outlet.

For $10. 🤣

After our Maya Grill meal Em and I did something on a whim that we had not done in years.

IMG_9560.jpeg

Our family loved Winter Summerland (Fantasia Gardens was a distant second) and we played mini golf every vacation. As our boys hit their teens, things got a bit *ahem* competitive and Em no longer enjoyed the outing. Tonight we just wanted to have fun!

Though the course is showing its age (and several special effects have been turned off/removed) the whimsy remains delightful.

Restrooms are located in the chalet.

Christmas in October! (And July! :hilarious:)

IMG_9568.jpeg

The CM asked if we wanted to play the summer side or the winter side. I remember liking The Beach Boys Christmas tunes on the summer side and had intended to choose that course, but there was no waiting on the winter side.

Winter it was!

I did not know Em had taken my poor posture picture until Woody mentioned, “So I see you played mini golf,” on our call later.

Elsa’s ice castle…..pre-Elsa! (The description had been updated. 😉)

IMG_9570.jpeg

I think this was the hole where we each got a hole in one.

IMG_9573.jpeg

Both courses end in “the Christmas House.”

IMG_9574.jpeg

Em had the lowest score this round, making her the victor. (Childhood memories redeemed!)

This round?

Well we had such fun playing the winter side that we decided to play the summer side too. Daylight was over but the darkness made the course more magical!

IMG_9576.jpeg

And I got to hear The Beach Boys tunes!

IMG_9577.jpeg

First an ice castle, now a sand castle.

IMG_9579.jpeg

Sand sculptures.

Both of us had a couple holes in one on this course. And I beat Em this round.

Then I asked her to add our scores together to determine the overall champion.

It was Em - by one stroke!
