Trip Report Tu in ‘25

Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will rise
Tu in ‘25

These lyrics came to mind when I thought about my trip reporting. (I also thought, Here we go AGAIN but the above sounds much more poignant.) It’s now that time of year when my Disney trips are frequent. And this Disney Senior loves sharing her visits with y’all because your engagement makes it fun!

Yes, there will be stuff that’s the same. Yes, there will be surprises (too soon for the reveals). And yes, there will be sun rises!

Spring break countdown is at 4 days.

Since this intro needs a picture, here are Tu.

The smell of diesel fumes is not as prevalent here. Fun Fact: Autopia cars will be fully electric in 2026.

IMG_7723.jpeg

Em wanted us to ride together. She’s a wee bit older than the first time she was an Autopia driver.

(Fun fact: The Tuva Tykes’ father is in the car behind Em & Woody.)

Notice the Route number.

IMG_7726.jpeg

There were some “futuristic”😉 scenes along the way.

Track in front is former Peoplemover/Rocket Rods; the one behind is monorail.

Autopia is another DL attraction we consider more superior than MK’s Speedway. It’s longer, much more picturesque, and the trees provide welcome shade!

Of course there’s still the typical backup to get to the unload zone!

I miss riding BTMRR at WDW and hope they make enough enhancements that we notice the difference because DL looks so much better! Wow, Astro Orbiter seems much better at loading and unloading at DL! Autopia is head and shoulders better at DL and I hope we get a redo on this ride soon too because the fumes are so bad at WDW.

Em made LL#6 as soon as we tapped into Autopia. No need to criss-cross the park this time!

IMG_7735.jpeg

(Fun Fact: Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters occupies the space of the former Rocket Rods queue, which was originally the CircleVision Theater.)

I was looking forward to this attraction. I remember how easy it was get a high score, thanks to the removable laser gun. It sure helped with my accuracy!

But I was sorely disappointed with my lowly Planetary Pilot score. While I've never had Galactic Hero status at MK, I've often been a Cosmic Commando (600,001-999,998). Em, a Space Scout, beat me today.

Hopefully the upcoming refurb of MK's Buzz will be an improvement over both current versions.

I’d booked LL#7 during the downtime in our room.

The green ghosts flying in the windows above the banquet room resembled real people rather than wispy white souls. My picture does not do it justice but it was a great effect.

IMG_7747.jpeg

I prefer this version of the attic bride rather than the talking, projected-face Constance.

IMG_7501.jpeg

Ghosts in the graveyard. (Did anyone play that game as a child? I loved it!)

IMG_7504.jpeg

IMG_7505.jpeg

In 2 pictures I captured all 3 hitchhiking ghosts.

IMG_7749.jpeg

IMG_7750.jpeg

My preference leans towards this old-school ending rather than MK’s animated hitchhiking ghosts.

Em had booked Indy (LL#8) this morning after tapping into Goofy’s Sky School. Clearly this is one of DL’s top attractions, since the return time was more than 6 hours out.

Did we feel bad blowing by everyone in the standby line? Not one bit. We had already waited a long time - albeit virtually. :cautious:

IMG_7753.jpeg

Woody and I first experienced this incredible attraction in 1996. We knew immediately that our boys would love it. I brought home the decoder card given to guests at the entrance to show them. The card helped to pass the time in the queue as guests could use it to translate the symbols found therein.

(This photo and some of the following are from the interwebs.)

Three years later our boys ventured into this temple for the first time and their excitement matched our expectations. Yeah, there’s some creepy and scary parts - but those only add to the thrill.

IMG_7756.jpeg

The preshow film explains the shrine we are in. We will choose a door to be rewarded with one of three treasures: earthly riches, eternal youth or future knowledge. We will be boarding a jeep first.

IMG_8054.jpeg

However there is one condition - we must not look directly into the eye of Mara, or bad things will happen.

IMG_8541.jpeg

“I tried really hard not to look in her eye!” I remember my middle son saying to me later. Yet inevitably, there’s always someone in your jeep who does not heed the warning!

IMG_8543.jpeg

And bad - really bad - things begin to happen.

Which is the reason we chose this adventure in the first place!

Em and I are looking forward to the transformation of DINOSAUR to Indy. It will give us a reason to visit AK more often (@Zipadeelady).

I have this feeling that you will slowly be converted to having that warm fuzzy feeling when you think of AK and it will be a must do every trip. 😆

I'm not upset over this change. I like Dinosaur, but feel it could be better. It keeps getting delayed. Do we know when they will start the transformation.....?
