Are Pirates and Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise and others not E-Tickets?
Personally I dont think they are E, D maybe. That doesnt take anything away from them as I love HM and Pirates. E-ticket is subjective and Im sure some will say those 3 are Es but I just dont think so.

I completely agree. As much as I want this to be done I believe it will make things tough in the MK. Something of substance should have been done on the 20K site a long time ago, that way this wouldnt be an issue. Well I hope if they do it, they start early 09 and takes about 18 months like has been rumored. That way I dont have to deal with it since Im most likely not going next year.

Hmmm... Let's take a look at my one and only visit to Disneyland as an adult (only other visit was when I was 6)...
It was late October of 2003:
-Space Mountain was closed for its big overhaul (this may have even been the unplanned time when it was forced closed before any work had started on it).
-Big Thunder Mountain was closed because of a fatal accident.
-Small World was closed for its changeover to Small World Holiday.
-Buzz Lightyear was months away from opening.
-Sailing ship Columbia was being overhauled in dry dock.
-Fantasmic wasn't running.

Yes, I was bummed that I wouldn't be able to experience those attractions (especially Space, as I didn't get to ride it when I was a kid), but I understood and got over it.

I knew that I'd just have to wait until another trip to ride them, even though I had (and still have) no idea when I'll be able to make it back out to the West Coast.

At least the entire park wasn't closed!

Don't get me wrong - I understand that rehabs happen and know the end result will be awesome (though SM is fine to me now), but I think with the way things are in the MK, traffic pattern wise, it's going to be a nightmare in the area between Splash and Thunder. It's safe to say that the majority of MK traffic is seperated between Frontierland and Tomorrowland. With SM closed for so long, and nothing new to draw people to that side of the park, the congestion in Frontierland is going to be overwhelming.

So be it! The refurb will be worth it. I have been on Disneylands'. It is amazing.

How Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion could be considered anything but E-ticket rides is beyond my comprehension. There is no argument...they are both E-tickets.

In terms of attendance and how long you wait to see them, they're not. When I think of E-tickets, I think of

Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, Test Track, Soarin', Mission:Space, Tower of Terror, Rock n' Roller Coaster, Kiliminjaro Safari, Dinosaur, Everest, Kali River Rapids

Rides that people sprint directly for as soon as the park opens. Haunted Mansion and Pirates don't fll into that category.

Just for the record... in terms of attendance POTC and HM beat out nearly every attraction on your list.

Yes, there's that little thing called ride capacity. Just as one example, Pirates had handle twice as many people per hour compared to RnR coaster (3600 vs 1800)

And maybe they can use the TTA downtime to give it the thorough rehab that it needs.

Yeah, I guess you're right - Taking actual attendance figures by way of ride capacity, that would be true.

I guess when I think of an E-ticket attraction, I think of a ride that I have to wait in line for some time for. Rarely, have I waited in line for either Pirates or Haunted Mansion. I love them both, but I don't spend nearly the same amount of time in their ques as I do Splash Mountain's.

That's a pretty odd criterion, though. I mean, the longest waits I usually see at the MK are for Peter Pan--a ride I like, but it's no E-Ticket. When they start having fewer shows of Fantasmic, you'll probably have to queue up earlier to see it, but it doesn't become a better experience. This rule would also mean that if the park added enough rides that nothing had a long wait, there would be no E-Tickets. To me, the only way to judge whether something is an E-Ticket is how big it is--I don't mean just the size of the show building, but whether it's a long ride for its type and looks like lots of money and effort went into it. And of course, whether it's a great ride!

For something like Pirates, though, it's all academic. It is an E-Ticket because when they had tickets you needed an E-Ticket to ride it. It's the in Hall of Fame; you can't bust it down to a farm club now.

wouldn't dumbo be an E ticket if that were the case?

E ticket originates back to the ticket books, and E was the most grand experience available. The reason a lot of E ticket attractions have a short wait time (or large capacity), is because those are the ones everybody wants to go on. Therefore, they are designed with that in mind.

It really just means that it was a more expensive ride, and you should expect more out of it.

I would assume they'd just put a barrier in the area to hide things from people as well as having the strength to protect people.

I waited in line to see Stitch once.

Does that make Stitch an E-ticket?

WHAT?!? I sprint to the Pirates each time I'm there. It seems to always be our first ride!

If you know of a cost-effective barrier that will prevent injuries from a 3-ton piece of steel falling 30', please let me know.
