TSMM Wait Times = Pure Rubbish

Granted, I think it is a very enjoyable attraction. WDW's best? No. DHS's best? No (I give that crown to ToT). But still fun & creative nonetheless. DW and myself enjoy the interactive competition as much as the kids. But what I don't understand is why the lines remain so outlandishly long. Last time we visited the Studios, even the Fastpasses had run out before lunch.

I'm not dissing the ride, but is it really worth these types of wait times? Maybe I am missing something, but if I'm going to be waiting in those types of lines...it had better be for some classic like ToT, HM, etc.

TSMM is good...but not "drop what you're doing and get there" good like I've observed so many guests treat it like.

Am I alone in thinking this, or am I missing something else in the ride that others seem to get?

The long waits are due to the severe lack of family-style rides at DHS (ST, ToT, and RnRC all have height requirements. So that leaves GMR and Backlot as the competition for TSM).

On my last trip it was the most unbearable line we waited in. It was right when the park was closing right before EMH. I was completely amazed by the number of Fast Pass people were walking through that line. No wonder our line was moving so slow. You could actually tell when there were no more fast pass users going through because the stand by line was ACTUALLY moving. It was so painful, not to mention all of the line jumpers.

Kinda funny you say that. They alternate the number of FP guests with the number of stand by guests. Something does not sound correct there. I have never seen it done any other way or where they halt the Stand by in order to allow 30+ FP guests… ever.

I think TSMM is a fun ride, well executed.

Personally, I would not waith more than fifteen minutes for it. Which means I can only do it if I get FP early in the morning, or if I skip F! and do TSMM instead.

I think the lines are indeed owing to the Studio's limited ride line-up. There are only three family rides. The Backlot is but a shadow of its former self. Not really re-ridable either. The GMR is a bit of a once-per-trip-suffices ride too. Which leaves TSMM to carry the brunt of family riders.

That, and TSMM has a low capacity.

As a third mechanism, long lines create a 'buzz'. In popular culture, something gains in popularity simply by virtue of being popular.

My GF and I spent 8 days at WDW this past May and every time we looked up waits TSMM was always at 90+ min of a wait and although it was just the 2 of us we still didn't want to "waste" 90+ min of our trip to wait in line. Only time we rode it was in '10 when a family walking out as we walked in gave us 7 fast passes because thet had to leave for ADRs.

I guess I'm in the minority. My wife and my son love the ride, as do I. I don't think we'd wait 90 minutes to ride (play), but we'll wait longer for it than any of the other rides.

I enjoy the ride. I'll agree it's not the best at DHS let alone all of the World. I think the big deal is it's the best family ride at DHS. If you have younger kids, it's the most entertaining ride there for them.

Different strokes for different folks - some people camp out for days to buy the latest phone or to get tickets for some has-been rocker.

^^ Agreed.

I think the thing that makes it fun for us is that we always seem to be competing by playing some type of game as a family like Uno, Go Fish, TSMM Wii game, Wii sports, etc.

To my son, everything is a race, even getting the mail.

It probably doesn't help that I'm not much of the roller coaster type (get motion sickness). Go figure. I'll drive a car around a track all day long, but I can't take a 5 minute intense coaster ride. I will ride Thunder Mountain, but I think I'd toss my cookies on Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.

I personally love the ride but I agree the wait time is sometimes insane. I really don't see a solution until HS opens up a new E ticket that caters to everyone in the family.

^That's like us. It's a fun ride. I wouldn't say we love, LOVE it, but it definitely is a must do. But like you said about 90-min...we're not passionate enough to wait that long for TSMM.

And the way FP's run out so early & people line-jump so frequently, you'd think they were giving out free $$$ at the end of the line.

I don't understand that sort of enthusiasm over it. But still an attraction we enjoy.

Some day I'll actually get to go on this lol... last time I went I only had a few hours in Hollywood Studios, got there right in the middle of the day and the fastpass return time for the one I could have gotten was much later than I was able to be in the park until, and the stand by was something insane like 120 minutes... The time I went to WDW before that it wasn't there yet. Sigh...

It's a great game, I enjoy it a lot. If you really know what you're doing then you can ride it multiple times a day without hardly waiting, but then again you'd have to know what you're doing. There's not much of anything in WDW that I'm willing to wait in long lines for, it's either fastpass, early or late or not at all. TSM is one I'm willing to wait for at the right time when I know the line will actually move.

I agree with this! FP is to blame! I've waited in the over 90min line and they weren't even using half of the line space. It was because the line was stopped for the FP that were sold out since like 10 that morning. Not to mention the fact that late FP are accepted now...I call it Peter Pan syndrome.

It's a cute ride, one the kids love. Because of them, we make sure to be there at park opening and I run my butt off to get FP's. Personally, I could skip it. And no way would I wait more than 30 minutes for it. Then again, I wouldn't wait more than 30 minutes for any ride.

While I do love the ride and trying to get the best score out of everyone I'm with (I'm really competitive), I would not hesitate to skip this ride if the line was over an hour. I'm patient and don't mind waiting in lines, but this ride is not worth more than an hour wait for me

I will add that my kiddo has almost as much fun playing the Wii game as the ride at DHS. You don't get all of the interaction like the ride, of course, but it's still pretty fun.
