There is a dent in Walt Disney's Tomb. Instead of rolling over in his grave, he hit the inside because he was so ed at what they did to the monorails!
You do realize that one of the reasons Walt built Disneyland was to help promote his movies don't you?

Let's also remember that the original Disneyland monorail was sponsored by Santa Fe and Alweg. Advertising has always been integrated into every aspect of the parks in one way or another.

Otherwise... why have rides about Peter Pan, Dumbo, Snow White, Toad's Wild Ride,..... Pirates of the Caribbean.... (oops... cart before the horse on that one)

Looks pretty cool...how many will have this paint scheme? Just one?And only on the Epcot beam?

Unfortunately, two. That is Coral you see engrossed in Tron. The other will be Monorail 12, which isn't completely rebuilt yet. And yes, they will only be on the Epcot beam during operation. But remember, they do have to go back to shop at night for routine maintenance and come out in the morning. So you will see them from time to time on the express beam which will look extremely out of place crossing in front of the Magic Kingdom in the mornings.

Wouldn't a futuristic monorail crossing in front of a turn of the century train station already be out of place? I fail to see how painting the monorail blue and putting the word Tron on the side would make it any more out of place than it already is.

:lookaroun

Wait....you mean to tell me that the monorail passing infront of a Victorian Hotel and a Polynesian oasis is also thematically clashing???

They will obviously have to roll through the contemporary to get to the ttc switchtrack...

The trains run on Express in the opposite direction. First thing in the morning the trains heading for Epcot would follow Express in the normal direction, and at night they reverse around Express (though the new rules would have them drive "forward" from the rear cab).
Probably the only time you'd see one of these going through the Contemporary would be if they had to pull the train off the Epcot line mid-day to bring it to the Shop. (At least the light cycle would still be going "forward" through the Contemporary)

Not really a Tron fan but that looks pretty freakin awesome!

I didn't see any indicators for identifying Coral as the actual train though. So for now, everyone must memorize that Blue is actually Coral on concourse.

And to make things more confusing, the light cycle on one side is blue, the one on the other side is yellow.

I think they should've kept the cycle the same color on each side, and had one train be blue and one be yellow...

or not...I think it goes:

Monorail shop
switch onto Express beam
Express beam to TTC via GF and Poly
switch from MK express beam to Epcot Beam at TTC

so they will only be going through the Contemp at night at closedown.

I agree. I too would have thought that they would have kept one yellow and one blue. If train 12 comes out with the same combo scheme but yellow is on the left and blue in on the right I think it would be safe to assume that someone in the shop made a biggggggg boo-boo.

When I first heard about it I was ticked, but I have to admit it looks sweet. I am looking forward to see it in person.

As for as theming, Tron is the best theme to put on a monorail. It adds to the idea of trail following the bike. Great idea!

However, I am slightly curious (and have seen no one mention it so I guess I am about to bring up a stupid question)... Aren't the trains set up to go the oposite direction? That would be very odd to see the bikes going in reverse. OOPPS

WOHOOO. First Post!!

Along with a video they've posted in the last couple of hours. Looks great IMO. But then, I love Tron and love the idea of advertising it as much as possible. I want it to succeed and where ever I am in December, I'm going to make sure I know where the closest IMAX is so I can get the full effect on opening day.

First I have to say this looks REALLY COOL!

That being said I really hate it when Disney does this to the monorail. I did not like the Year of Million dreams wrap or the others that have been used. My propblem with it is they cover the windows. Even though they have little holes so you can see pretty clearly out, it is not the same as a un obstructed view. I love riding the monorail through Epcot and it is so much better with a nice clear window. It also allows for better picture taking.

I do like the Tron paint sceam, I just wish the would have left the windows clear.

Not like it matters since I haven't been at WDW since '89 and am not returning till the Fantasyland expansion is done buuuuuuuuuuuut....

I like it! Actually wait no let me rephrase. I like the blue one, the yellow is kinda eh. I get why it's there (Tron's a cool film) but it just seems eh. I can see why it would make people pause and I wish they had waited until closer to the films release to do this. "What' Tron?" "Oh the sequel to a really cool movie....that's not out for another 6 months."
