News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

I thought you just meant unfinished rears. When Everest was being built, this forum was running about like chickens with their heads cut off because they didn't build the mountain all the way around.

I wasn’t following this board when Everest opened but I was disapointed at the visual from outside the park. Compared to attractions that are designed for viewing from all angles like tower of terror, it’s a disappointment. Fortunately they used that money for the super impressive yeti AA.... oh wait. (And this is coming from a fan of Joe!)

Have you been to Shanghai? You can clearly see the Tron building from Toy Story Land. Its also an eye sore from outside the park. This is a great photo of the Tron Cover - sadly it doesn't cover the show building from every angle

Oops. Missed this one. The orientation is completely different. In Shanghai it is within the berm, oriented so that the canopy is perpendicular to the berm (causing the visible side to face half of the park), and has a seven-lane split highway and a hotel right behind it. In Orlando, it is outside the berm, is oriented so the exposed size faces a fraction of a mini-land (which can easily be shielded with plantings), and has a two-lane road and acres of old-growth forest behind it.

Again, so what? The pattern is there for the front of house view. It does not continue to the east side of the building.

You... said... that they wouldn't hide the wall from Storybook Circus because of the finish. I said the finish can be seen from the road and you talked about only doing up the sides of a house that face the curb. But... from the road that side is the front. It can be seen from the curb. If your house is on a corner you don't only care about the side facing the road your street address says.

If the view from World Drive is why there is a pattern it would have continued east. It does not.

Isn't that taken from the monorail track leading to the area they maintain the monorails, the part where guests never ride on? Looks like it's the part of World Drive that encircles the MK and not the part the general public are encouraged to use?
No, that is the south side that faces the monorail loops, not the east side. You can see where the trains reenter the building which is on the west side.

Your left, upper corner of the building. You can see the coaster track entering the building. Compare that to other views and you’ll see it’s the south side.

So the track you see is the one the public don't use heading to maintenance, taken from the monorail leaving the Contemporary then and curving left then?

If *that's* the situation, then this means that this isn't the final view.

Because if this entire wall were meant to be seen, they would have done that the whole way down. In fact, the lower portion of the building is done in the same "Nothing to See Here Navy" as the unseen-from-onstage back portion of the building. This suggests that the bottom half and the back half will be hidden from view by trees. That could keep it completely obscured from Storybook Circus, not interfering with the theming there at all, and would only come into view from the train by the time people are looking in the opposite side in wonder at the canopy.

Heck, there's a building between the gravity building and canopy in Shanghai that is not present in Orlando, so this could have been done because you can see it from the ride.

Anyone know what that building is? Is it the exit/shop? That actually might explain the mysterious building I was trying to figure out between the canopy and TTA/PM.

I don't really know all of the different angles and views from outside the park - since we always stay onsite, we just take the buses and haven't stayed at a monorail resort for ages - so I'm generally confused by a lot of the details discussed in this thread.

My big question is this: is the building going to be obscured from Storybook Circus? It seems to me that some significant foliage placed close to the circus would effectively block the building there. But with all the dizzying discussion I'm confused as to whether that will happen.

Yes, more of the west elevation will be visible without the Chevrolet Digital Challenge post show building. That does not explain wrapping the corner. The on-ride view around the corner, at most, will be quite minimal as the track does not extend that far north, is banked and the canopy is over the track.

You’d really want the building to be green if that were the plan.
