Oh my goodness, I am the same way with social media, this is where I post most, and I usually love all your posts, but this one is so sad.

Gilah looks gorgeous in her pearls!! And I love the photo of her and the cat and the flowers.

My heart goes out to you as you grieve for your beloved pet. Take some comfort that she had 10 great years with you and you with her. I don't know what more to say.
Your post made me smile. Gilah in those pearls is a long story, they fit her perfectly and she gave us lots of poses for her photo shoot. It was a good day.

Thank you.

Oh no!! I'm so so sorry!! That is the most horrible feeling, having to make that decision. She looks like a real sweetheart. Is that your cat in the picture with her as well?
Thank you, and yes. That is Phoebe, our indoor cat. She loves going outside with us when we sit on the front porch. It's funny when it's time to go inside, we call her like she's a dog and she'll run inside.

I’m sorry. It’s so hard to lose someone so close.
It is.... and it's so easy to get attached, no matter how long they are with you and how much of a pain they are. (Sorry, I use humor in inappropriate situations). I'll take all her slobber and quirks to have her back. 🥹

I post because most of you are animal lovers and will understand. We had to put down my girl Gilah yesterday, she was a 10 year old Great Dane and the best girl. She just wanted to be next to us and get all the love she could. My heart is so heavy
So sorry about your dog. There’s a reason they call dogs man’s (or a person’s) best friend isn’t there? 💐

Thank you and Yes!

@Zipadeelady I'm so sorry to hear about your Gilah. So many cute photos, but I too love the one in her pearls, and the one with your cat.
Thanks, I have so many of Gilah and Pheobe. I guess once the kids move out you start taking pictures of your pets :)

I’m not one that posts much on social media and a lot of my accounts are private with mainly family members. I post and comment mainly on this forum. I guess I just assumed my life isn’t that exciting and I like it like that. 😊

I am so, so sorry for your loss! Great Danes are such gentle giants when they are older. I know it has to seem like the house is so empty without her. And a loss of rhythm to your day. My daughter’s cat doesn’t care when I feed her, but my kids/ our dogs want to be fed and walked at almost the exact same time every day! With one kid gone and one headed out in the fall, it’s nice - in some ways - to have someone that expects me home. I would miss that if it were gone…
Sending you light. 💕

I waited a bit to respond because your comment hits.... The house is so quiet and empty. We downsized after the kids left and she just took up so much space, in a good way. Joe really feels the loss at midday, that was their time to walk around the woods. I feel it in the evenings and early morning when it was just the two of us. I'll take all that light you send. I really appreciate your comment. Thank you.

I just watched a quick YouTube and have to say not a fan of the Incredibles decor. Thank you for your insight as always!! I'm going to push harder for another resort we haven't stayed at yet. Maybe OKW or Sarasota....

The rooms are OKW are larger and quieter, but the awful Bus service prevents us from ever trying the resort.

Have not stayed at Saratoga either, but its proximity to Disney Springs, variety of pools and better bus service would make this my choice over OKW.

The couple of times we stayed at OKW (including this past Christmas) we had a car. Now that you mention it, when we did need a bus, it was not great, and not close for us. Olivia’s was not what I’d consider walking distance, and the parking lot is pretty small, so sometimes we’d have to wait for someone to leave.

None of that would prevent us from staying there again (with a car.) It’s a nice resort, often reasonably priced.

Saratoga is also often reasonably priced. Both have less theming, IMO, but Saratoga was on the bland side, we thought. Good for a non-park visit so you can take the boat to DS.

Saratoga felt very private, secluded, but far-flung, more generic, and less “Disney.” The restaurant is OK, not super impressive but not trying to be. Think average steakhouse.

@rshell68 I’m also trying to pick something of a special resort for my bday at the end of summer. Preferably something deluxe where we could walk to a park (or monorail.) Somewhere we haven’t been.

Bucket list: Poly, Contemporary. Also cool: Beach Club. We stayed at Yacht Club just one night several years ago, didn’t really get the full experience.

Going likely 3 nights. Could whittle it down to 2, or a value for the first night (arriving late unless B takes the day off.)

I looked at the Disney site, and they were all $500-$600+ per night. Looked at DVC rental site, and a studio was about $300/night for most.

I presume a studio is like a regular hotel room(?)

I would be happy with any of them, but have always wanted to stay at the Poly. My question (for @Tuvalu or anyone) is: is the new tower as themed? I really want the full Poly experience rather than a possibly less themed, more modern thing.

If you can get a studio at the Polynesian Island Tower for $300 snap it up as soon as you can. Even for a duo studio (see pics in @meggo819 ‘s current TR) that is an incredible deal. A regular studio in a Poly longhouse for $300 is also a great deal. A longhouse studio will be bigger than a studio in the tower and has two bathrooms (but just one toilet). The DVC rooms at the Poly (not the tower) are within easy walking distance to the TTC and Epcot monorail.

Both @meggo819 and @MickeyCB can fill you in about their experience staying in the tower.

For the “full” Poly experience, TUVALU says stay old school. 🤣

We are so sorry for your loss of beautiful Gilah. The joy and friendship she would have brought you over those years will never be forgotten. We too absolutely love the photos especially the one with your cat.. You are in our thoughts and sending hugs. 🤗

We ended up at Pop for June trip...don't ask

Bucket list: Poly, Contemporary
Would LOVE to make it back to the Poly....

Well we did it, we took advantage of the Virgin UK offer today and we have booked POFQ for November 2026. We will finally be able to see WDW all decked out in the festive decorations. Another one ticked off our bucket list. It will make it easier leaving WDW at the end of September this year knowing we will be back next year.

The Tower is shiny and new but definetly doesn't have that 70's vibe that the Poly is known for. But, with the room rehabs that the original had and the whole Moana thing, that has gone away too.
@Tuvalu could answer better if all of the rooms were rehabbed.

If it's just the two of you I like the studios a little better (yes they are in my opinion a jazzed up hotel room), but it's nice having the sofa/murphy bed to be able to sit on instead of only a second bed. I'm hooked on balconies and you get them with most of these studios.

All of this is true, although I find OKW quite walkable, even from the very back to all the way forward.
