Ok, take 2 on getting Seth home.
This time I'm having him take the train from NY to Philly, and I'm driving to Philly to pick him up and then he will hopefully fly back on Sunday if the travel gods are kind.
He needs to get an MRI (nothing emergent has been having headaches) and if I cancel one more time the scheduler is going to take me out back with a switch!
How ridiculous is it to drive 12 hours round trip, would have been 16 if he didn't meet me part way, because you can't count on air travel any longer?!
That would have been a 1 1/2 hour flight.

It's crazy.

As I think I said upthread, I am dreading our flight to Vancouver next week (JFK-SEA, SEA-YVR) for our DCL Alaska cruise on the Wonder. Used my miles to book us first class, which means we are allowed two checked bags each, my hubby is looking to check his carryon wheelie bag as well as his suitcase. Poor guy, he doesn't travel often. I'm all, keep everything we need with us. Hoping that none of our flights is delayed or cancelled.

Please, everyone cross their fingers for me. 🙏

Please post pics.
I booked first class for us for the very first time ever to Sac and Gary blew a cork! I'm hoping we luck out with flights and some nice attendant babies him because if it's a bad experience I will never hear the end of it!

They sure are. They had Prelims last night. Phantom Regiment got 9th place out of 41 groups! Tonight is Semifinals and tomorrow Finals. He'll take a breather and then start practicing for next year. He would like to be in the group Bluecoats out of Ohio.

Flomarching is a broadcasting company that broadcasts all the DCI shows. For the West Virginia show my son made the "advertisement" for Flomarching!

Thanks for asking and letting me brag.

Love this! What I wanted to post on @Loco_driver s trip report (a few months back) when you brought up DCI was - if that girl (the one loco stayed home from DCI for 😊) had been worth it - she would have waited for him that summer! The guy I dated all through college was an instructor for DCI (Phantom) and I survived 4 summers - no problemo! And this was back in the days where there were no cell phones. 👵🏻 I have ZERO musical talent but still to this day, I love me some DCI. Thought of going to the movie theater to watch the finals (through fantom events) but I had conflict that night. Good luck to your son!!

I’ll be sad when he ages out (he has one year left). I love going and watching all the groups. So much talent. Joe, my son and C that just moved to Orlando have so much musical ability, even my oldest daughter plays saxophone but I have absolutely none.

Love your story, I really didn’t think many people would understand when I mentioned DCI but I guess it’s a small world 😊

It is so very sad what travel has come to
Safe travels and fingers crossed for a clear MRI!

Made it home....no flight cancellations and we had a 9 hour layover in Atlanta...(I waved at you, Tuvalu! Did you see me?) plenty of time to recheck our bags and get back through security. Though to be fair, if it hadn't been such a long layover, we wouldn't have had to do any of that, so it kind of sucked. But we are home!

Very true! It all worked out for me in the end though!

Thanks, I don't want to jinx us because I have the very worst karma, but we all think it is just a "being sure test", to the point it was tempting to cancel it altogether, but better safe than sorry. It will also take away any doubts.
It's probably migraines by history and worsened with his new computer job. I bought him a pair of the blue light blocking glasses and it seems to help. The problem is that he can't see the proper colors on the computer with the weird yellow lenses.
If it is migraines then we just need to get him on the appropriate meds.

We did!!

Phantom regiment moved up another spot and took 8th overall, moving ahead of the Cavilers. They also received the fan favorite award!

Dare I ask, who was playing at the game?
Nicely done! Seems like the Cavilers once had a permanent spot in the top 5, glad to see other corps giving them more competition!

The game was Mariners vs Rangers. It was a rare victory for the home team. Shockingly crowded too, but I think the new park is really boosting attendance. Hopefully they can start fielding a better team soon. I grew up cheering for the Braves, but the local team is still worth a visit or two each summer for a little fun.

Joe and I love going to ballgames. We have hit most of the major ball parks in the midwest and southeast areas. Would love to start going to a few more now that I may start having some free time again.

Spring Training down here is an absolute blast if you haven't discovered it already! You can pretty much pick your team and be within driving distance from the games. And the weather can't be beat that time of year.

This is actually a goal of my husbands. We always said we would never retire to Florida. Now with C down there and it being a huge spring training area I'm guessing the chances of us eventually heading that way are much much higher than they used to be.
