DAY #8 – Friday March 14th 2008
“Disney’s Hollywood Studios / Epcot”
  • Headed to “MGM” for the morning. We parked in “Stage” and “Trammed it” the entrance. We totally LOVE “Trammin’ it”, we consider it one of Disney World’s greatest attractions and think it deserves a Fast Pass!

  • Lunch at Flame Tree BBQ (ribs, smoked turkey, pulled pork, and corn muffins…mad good!)
Did the ducks attack you? We were there the day after you and ate Flame Tree.

You are right about the corn muffins. Usually not a big fan of them but the Flame Trees ROCK!

ps..you are putting my trip report to shame heehee

DAY #9 – Saturday March 15th 2008
“Magic Kingdom”

  • We woke up at 6:00am to bright sunny skies and nice hot weather! Full day planned at the Magic Kingdom today and the park is open until 12 midnight…..HELLO!
  • We are so glad to be ending it with the Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom is really where the magic lives and in a large part IS Disney World for us.
  • Arrived at Magic Kingdom and took the monorail to the park entrance.
  • We watched the opening show at the entrance and even got to throw Mickey shaped confetti to help open the park. We love it how they make it feel like the day you visit the Magic Kingdom is the most special day they’ve ever had.
1) Small World (3rd time)
2) Peter Pan (2nd time)
3) Snow White (2nd time)
4) Pooh (3rd time)
5) Mickey’s Philharmagic (2nd time)
  • BOOM, we hit Fantasyland so hard this morning, it was fun to get the day started with so many great rides with no waiting at all.
  • We were running on fumes by this time in our trip and the long days were taking their toll. There is nothing like Disney World to give you the energy needed to keep on going. However, the empty calories from all the burgers and fries we were eating were not enough and our bodies were craving some fruit or vegetables. So we saw a fruit stand in Fantasyland and got oranges and bananas and ate them at a table near Ariel’s grotto with the fresh morning sunlight shining down on us. It was at this point we decided to take this last day in the parks a little slower and enjoy the atmosphere and relax a little bit more.
6) Liberty Belle River Boat - We hadn’t done this attraction since were kids and it was really nice. It is relaxing and peaceful, gives you great views of the parks and the lands, and harks back to the old days of Walt Disney World. It was a nice change of pace.
7) Hall of Presidents
8) Tom Sawyers Island - It was so busy that they had 3 rafts running people to and from the island and all the rafts were totally packed! This was so good to see. Me and Dan love Tom Sawyers Island because our grandpa used to love being out there with us and we would look at all the forts and bridges and talk about how we could build them in our own backyard someday. He passed away too soon. We relaxed by the docks and Dan napped while me and Faith played a game of checkers. We were having so much fun but had to leave to catch our Space Mountain Fast Pass….but we’ll be back before the day is over because there are caves to be explored!
9) Space Mountain (3rd time)
  • Lunch in Tomorrowland. We had fruit and hotdogs and ate outside. We then got frosted in the spaceship mist machine and it felt good!
10) Walt Disney World Railroad – We took the secret route from Tomorrowland to Toontown to board the train there. We rode it to Frontierland and got off to ride the other mountains.
11) Splash Mountain (3rd time) – Once again, a completely full queue. Luckily we had our Fast Passes. Jeff and Carisa pulled a smooth move by bustin’ out an umbrella just in time to stop the baseball sized raindrops from pelting us towards the beginning of the ride. It worked!
12) Disney’s Dreams Come True Parade (2nd time) – caught the parade in Frontierland again. We were next to a hot dog cart and they had a mustard explosion with gallons of mustard going all over the place….needless to say the smell and mess was reason for moving down the road just a tad. This parade is good. The song is catchier than in past years and it’s starting to stick. Of course it’s no “Remember the Magic”, but it’s good.
13) Tom Sawyers Island (2nd time) – Carisa staked out a nice spot in the gazebo on the docks overlooking Haunted Mansion while Jeff, Dan, and Faith explored the whole island. We had fun in the fort, the caves, and the bridges. People may not realize how themed and detailed the island is, but there are some great effects out there on the island that are totally “Disney”.
14) Jungle Cruise (2nd time) – Unfortunately we had no Fast Pass, but we’ve been spoiled so far and it’s our turn to wait in line. The wait was about an hour, but Jungle Cruise is always worth it!
15) Big Thunder Mountain (3rd time) – All the rides by this time had completely full queues and the wait times were getting crazy. But this time we had a Fast Pass and were glad (not that we don’t love all these themed queues, because we do. Waiting in line is part of the attraction and we enjoy it, especially Big Thunder’s queue).
16) Pirates (4th time!!)
  • Dinner at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café with dinner entertainment provided by the one and only inter-galactic superstar Sonny Eclipse….OH YEAH BABY!! This is by far our favorite restaurant in Walt Disney World. There are so many food choices and there is nothing like good ol’ Sonny Eclipse! It’s an obsession for sure. Double bacon cheeseburgers loaded with everything along with cheese fries.
17) Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor – This was our first time seeing this attraction and this laugh floor didn’t provide too many laughs in our group. Carisa and Faith were petrified once they found out it involved audience participation and spent the whole time scared to death of being selected. But they weren’t picked….BUT JEFF WAS! Jeff was selected to play Randal in the show, it was pretty cool. Dan and Jeff hammed it up for the camera.
18) Carousel of Progress (3rd time) – We love this ride and it was really nice to see a big crowd inside the theater. The cast member said it had been busy all day, yeah! People were singing along too and usually we’re the only ones singing. This is such a Disney classic and not to sound overdramatic, but if this ever closed and little piece of me would die.
19) SpectroMagic Parade (2nd time) – Now the parks were packed to gills. The central hub of Magic Kingdom was a mad house. I told a cast member who was attempting (keyword) to control the crowd that I did not envy his job and he said “believe me you shouldn’t, it’s tough”. We watched the parade from about 20 people deep off of Main Street right off the Tomorrowland bridge.
20) Wishes (2nd time) – After SpectroMagic we made our way to the “Partners” statue to stake out a spot. We’ve only seen this many people on Main Street in front of the Castle when we were there on New Year’s Eve back in 1997. People were sitting all in the streets, it was crazy. We wanted to stand for Wishes but everyone around us was sitting so we sat too and ended up having a somewhat obstructed view, but it doesn’t change the effect of the show. By the way Tinkerbell had stage fright tonight, she didn’t fly….don’t know why, it wasn’t windy. Normally Wishes is the last thing you do in the park, but tonight the park’s open until midnight so BACK TO RIDES BABY!
21) Haunted Mansion (4th time!!) – The butler who scared Faith the other night was there and when he saw Faith, he recognized her immediately and went right back to staring at her. Then the butler who scared Dan the other night was there too, but even though he didn’t do anything, we still didn’t trust him. This is our favorite ride, a perfect ride, and we are so lucky to have ridden it four times! It will have to sustain us until we come back. Goodbye Haunted Mansion, until next time.
22) Cinderella’s Carousel – hadn’t done it in years.
23) Pooh (4th time!!) – No wait, why not?
  • Went to check out Space Mountain but saw that it and the TTA were having technical difficulties.
24) TTA (3rd time) – The TTA went back online first so we rode that. And guess what? While going through Space Mountain the ride was still broken so we got to see Space Mountain with all the lights on!! I got a video of it; it was so interesting and fun!
25) Space Mountain (4th time!!) – We caught it right as it reopened so there was no wait. Since we rode this ride 4 times we all got a chance to ride in the front car, which is the most fun!
26) Small World (4th time!!) – Not only ended the day as we started the day, but ended the trip as we started the trip. A very appropriate way to bookend Walt Disney World.
  • Headed Main Street and walked through the Castle as it was doing it’s “Kiss Goodnight”.
  • Got ice cream at the Main Street ice cream parlor….soooo good!
  • Shopped at the Emporium for some souvenirs. Get this, the guy who rang us up was the SAME GUY who rang us up on our last 2005 trip at the Emporium.
  • One last “Kiss Goodnight” from the Castle and it was time go. Goodbye Magic Kingdom, goodbye Walt Disney World, and see you real soon.
  • Got back to the hotel at 1:45am. Packed a little while watching Stacy and then went to bed.

DAY #10 – Sunday March 16th 2008
“Travel Home”

  • We woke up at 9am to 80 degree weather. Had breakfast together in the room and finished packing.
  • Drove our car, which we named “The People Mover” to the airport.
  • We took in our last breath of Florida air because the next air we will breath will be 40 degree weather in Providence RI.
  • Our flight was delayed so we ate lunch at the Orlando airport. Any extra time in Florida is good by us. We had giant thick crust slices of pizza and also ate our bag of Doritos, which was making the people passing by quite jealous.
  • Arrived back home on Cape Cod at 9pm.
  • We had the best vacation ever, with so many great memories. We will keep these memories fresh in our minds and close to our hearts until we are fortunate enough to plan another trip to Walt Disney World.
Thank you all so much for reading our trip report. I hope you had as much reading it as I did writing it. Sorry it took me so long to finish. But for those of you that stuck with me, here is your reward...a bunch of bonus pictures from our trip. Enjoy!

Thanks to all for your nice words towards my Trip Report! While I was there I kept saying that as soon as I got home I was going to post my trip for all my friends on WDW Magic. I didn't have much ground breaking news to report but I think it's just as fun to read about a regular Walt Disney World trip. I had so much fun writing this report because it brought me right back to my trip and I got to relive it moment by moment. I sat down and played my Disney parks audio and just drifted back to Walt Disney World. Glad you like the pictures too, I've never really posted personal pictures and now you all know what we look like. Oh and to answer someone's question on where we stayed. We stayed outside Walt Disney World on International Drive. Now it's time to go and put my photo album together! Talk to all soon!

That was a great trip report. I'm heading down to Disney in three weeks and haven't been there in eight years, so this got me pumped up for it (I actually went to school in Boston and live in CT now, so I know exactly what it's like to go from CT/MA weather down to FL weather - it's great).
