They are really pushing this announcement. I got a little notification from the Disneyland Paris ap this morning that big news was coming.

A bit much isn’t it.

Are you not excited for the announcing of the announcement of the thing previously announced that may result in further announcements?

You’d normally just have a press announcement. Not a media circus.

On reflection I probably have set the app to allow notifications only whilst in the parks, but I expected to see an announcement in the app.

Is this event much bigger than the usual end of year InsiderEars gathering? I just assumed it was a similar event but they had something bigger to announce than normal. The media circus will be closer to opening?

They’re flying people in for this. Either it’s a third and forth park announcement, plus water park and 7th hotel at the same time or it’s a PR push to drum up interest in something announced nearly 8 years ago.

Disney have been marketing World of Frozen and Disney Adventure World as if its a new theme park, when it's an expansion and name change. It feels like their announcing the date that the park will be seen as nearly fixed (because we still have Up and Lion King to open)

WDW always announce the date of the “half way to the Holidays” announcement. And when the Candlelight narrators will be announced etc.

Yes, all of this fuss is making me wonder whether they must have something more exciting to announce tomorrow. As you say, the opening date of the expansion could have easily be handled with a press release and posts on social media. All of this seems disproportionate if that is all they're announcing, particularly as my reading of the sentiment around this by now is more "finally" than mad anticipation.
