Trails End is WDW's best kept secret

I'm the odd one out here, but not really a fan. The food is very basic and not really very interesting. There are better WDW buffets out there.

Interesting perspective. I actually appreciate the menu at trails end because its food I would actually eat. Boma is nice but I went once - I do not think I have to go again. The rage over zebra domes is confusing - I do not like them. Ohana is always a treat but I am reducing my time there. And the other buffets serve food that I would not touch.

Agree, not to mention the outrageous prices at the others, at least trails end is a little more doable even if not as fancy food/surroundings but its comfortable. now cmon guys we have stop talking about it otherwise Disney will catch on and ruin it too. :(

My thoughts exactly. On this last trip we had two reservations for Boma and I was bored with the food. We canceled our Ohana reservation and ate that night at Trails End for a third of the cost while enjoying better service and, not to mention, the boat ride back.

Only been once, I always noticed it while waiting for hoop de doo to open up but I found it pretty good. Wasn't expensive and I'd suggest to at least try it once. I took the ferry from the mk just to get a break away from the park for a bit so got a nice relaxing boat ride and decent dinner and was ready to go for the late night at mk

I agree. Just like the the great viewing location of Tomorrow Terrace for viewing Wishes.

Well said. Sometimes I think people mix the "ambiance" of Boma and AKL too much. While I think both are worth the trip - the food at Boma is too out my comfort zone. I enjoyed trying it but its not repeatable. Had the zebra dome and was not overly excited. AKL while amazing stunning - is not enough for me to go out my way to travel there to look at animals when I can see the same animals at AK. And I was excited to try Boma breakfast and did that a few trips ago and was not overly impressed. I tried the juice but it alone is not worth the cost; not to mention a huge gollap of hair in the eggs that I found.

Ohana - ibid on the post that has been going on the last few weeks. I have reservations for my August trip as a placeholder but with the cuts there - I am not too thrilled. What will keep me going though is the potstickers and wings - but the price is just too much and my service has never been amazing.

I am most excited about Trails End. Looking at the menu: fried chicken, mac and cheese, baked potato bar (if its still there), ribs, pulled pork, mashed potatoes for $25 - I cant go wrong. And the boat ride from MK sounds great as well :)

I can appreciate a lot of disney dining but I have issues spending lots of money for food/experiences/ambiances - Be our guest is a prime example - unless I have free dining and secure a dinner ADR I am not going to break my neck over it. I "may" try the lunch experience just to say I went but again, I am not going to worry if I do not. I am weird - I get more excited about counter service at the parks and food courts in the resorts :)

[COUNTDOWN=]2014/7/19 11:30 Our Summer WDW Trip![/COUNTDOWN]Everyone in my family agrees on this one. It is basic comfort food. Nothing fancy, but the price is right and the setting is casual and comfortable. Sometimes a challenge to get there, but pretty easy from the MK. It is a must-do on every trip.

How do you leave Fort Wilderness to go to EPCOT? After dinner, I have plans to go to Illuminations.

And thanks to posts like this it's no longer a secret. I have a place I love that used to be sort of an off the radar type of place till people started posting about it and now you MUST have an ADR to get in. I no longer give out any "secrets", lol.

I'm thinking about booking this one for our next trip. We ate lunch there on our 2011 trip, and I was not overly impressed. I don't remember eating from a buffet, though. We ordered from a menu and I don't remember a huge selection. Part of it though, may have been that I had a horrible sore throat on that trip, and I wondered at the time if it may have been strep. So the way I was feeling may have tainted my impression of the restaraunt.

But I love visiting WL/Ft Wilderness every trip. Either eat at WL and take the boat over to FW and hang out, or visit the WL, and then take the boat over to FW to eat and hang out. We have done Artist Point, Whispering Canyon, Hoop Dee Doo and Mickeys Backyard BBQ, so I figured it may be time to try to try Trails End again when they have the full buffet up and running.

@sbkline I'm pretty sure that by 2011 trails end had switched lunch from a buffet to ala carte. Caused quite a ruckus on the forum by my admittedly hazy memory. They had also experimented with a cold meal only buffet for lunch -basically soup salad and make your own sandwiches - that people hated.

We did the Trail's End dinner buffet a few years ago. It was fine, but not at all special. We might eat there again, or not.

After many trips, we finally made it to Trails End a couple of months ago. Everyone loved it. Great food, great service, and a great price. Highly recommend!

I would take a boat to the Contemporary and take the monorail to the TTC. Then hop on the Epcot monorail there.

As for Trail's End, I've always wanted to try it and even had reservations at one point but just haven't gotten around to it. It's honestly not high on my list of places to try but it's on there.

I believe you can take a boat from FW to the Contemporary and skip the MK step, but I am not 100% on that.

Take any of the busses to the outpost and catch a bus directly to Epcot. We did this, except we went to DHS.
You can also take the bus to WL and take a bus from there to Epcot. The busses run very regularly from the end of the road at Trail's End. The busses to the Outpost will have a color of some kind in their name. They all end up at the Outpost for transfer.
