is TSM worth it for young kids? we have DD 5 and twin DS 3 1/2. we are trying to determine our DHS strategy and wanted to know if it was worth it for our kids to plan the morning around getting in or getting a FP for it. from what we have read TSM has to be the #1 priority if you want to do it. my wife & i havent done it yet, we have always taken turns riding RnRC and ToT. we are trying to figure out a FP strategy since we will be there the week before Christmas and know it will be hard to get FP for all those rides. any info appreciated.
thanks,

Go get Fastpasses for TSMM as soon as you get there. They run out or are in late afternoon return times by late morning. My wife doesn't do ToT or RnRC so I usually send her to get the FPs while I do ToT and RnRC and usually am done by the time she gets done getting the FPs.

my DD was 3 1/2 on our last trip and Toy Story was one of her favorite rides. We arrived for rope drop, went straight to TSMM and rode it, then got fast passes for later.

If you don't get a fastpass, I find the queue to be fun and interesting- I can only imagine how fun it might be to see a young kid's reaction to it (the giant toys, Mr. Potato head AA)

Go straight to Midway Mania, get fastpasses, then hop in the Standby line for it. Go ride Tower and Coaster after the ride, and use your fastpasess for Midway Mania later in the day-I guarantee you'll want to ride it twice.

I love TSM, but my DD5 finds it scary (she loves Haunted Mansion, etc.) because things fly at you and then the ride vehicle has wind effects. For example a rocket flies at you in 3D and when it explodes right in front of you, you get a blast of air in the face. She has spent the entire ride on the floor at my wife's feet...

So it is great and try it, but don't be surprised if it scares one or both or your kids for no reason you can see. It can work to have them take off their glasses if they want. Things stop popping out at you, and it is actually possible to play the game that way (but it is really fuzzy...) This also works for the 3d movies at each park if they get too intense...

Enjoy..

Hit TSMM first and get a fastpass for it. It at least seemed to me on my last trip that the TOT queue was shorter as a knock-on effect of TSMM's opening, so riding it later in the day shouldn't be too much of a problem as opposed to riding it at opening.

Absolutely. The kids will love it. Get your fast pass for it lst thing, hop on he ride then do it again (you'll want too!) using your pass. Have fun!!!:)

Do you kids mind sudden unexpected spinning? Cause that would be one of the only questionable aspects of this ride. Once you finish each "level", you get spun around sharply on your way to the next "level". Just so long as you kids could handle that, it should be fun for them. And as a PP said, the interactive parts of the ride could surprise them. Really, it's nothing more than they would get on MuppetVision 3D.

I assume you have to get there at rope drop to do this?

I think this will be our plan of attack when we visit DHS in a few weeks as well.

For me, the ride is totally worth the wait. I have a lot of fun on the ride and would wait for an hour if I had to, but it is a lot smarter to head there first thing, and either ride it right away, grab fastpass or both.

TSM totally has thrown off my days at DHS. We would always get there as the park opened and get a FP for TOT or RnRC the one we didn't get the FP for we would jump on the line and ride. Now you have to go and get a FP for TSM right away and it throws everything off.

Yes, it is definitely worth it for the kids, but make sure you do things right.

Go early and get a FP!

Help them pull the trigger and even if the kids cannot fully participate in the game, they'll love wearing the 3D glasses and watching the screens and seeing the moving targets and objects changing.

This is exactly how we did it (at park open), and it worked well. By the time we finished riding the first time, the line just to get FPs was 10-15 minutes. Anyone aged 2-102 will enjoy this ride!

Ahh...Do you think it's necessary to get there RIGHT at rope drop? My parents, for some reason like to sleep in...:lookaroun:lol:

If you want to ride twice and you don't want to wait 60+ minutes each time, then you almost have to arrive at park open. If you don't, you'll have to get the first set of FPs when you do arrive, then hope FPs don't run out within the next two hours. From what I've seen, they run out early in the day.

My three year old niece loved it, but only the second time around. The first time she just sat there and stared. She wasn't scared, just a bit overwhelmed. Granted, she fell asleep in line and we woke her up right before we jumped on. The second time around she liked it and pulled the trigger the whole time-- and scored a whopping 250 points :)
