Someone very close to the situation. Don't want to get them into trouble here but I will be kept up to date.

It's one of the reasons I am going down for a week on the 26th of April.

It's not going to open in the next few weeks. Opening will be late May 2008, just as stated.

The ride is incredibally complex, and will require a great deal of fine-tuning by Imagineers and Cast alike. It's a very exciting time for the Studios, and everyone is anxious for this new ride, but please be patient. Good things come with time. Even **IF** soft openings happen before late May, there will be downtimes to fix problems, as long as the entire day.

There will be a lot of downtime with this ride prior to the official opening.
I hope those more critical of new/rehabbed rides will give it time until it is all said and done.

Cast Previews and Soft openings WILL start April 25 with DVC and Passholder Previews starting the first or second week of May.

Confirmed!
That would be great! We're going May 11 to 17th. We're really looking forward to this attraction. Otherwise we have to wait until end of October. :)

Really looking forward to catching this in June.

I'm curious about how this attraction will affect park touring strategies for the Studios. Wonder if it will remove some of the TOT/RNRC rush.

Any clue on ride capacity and if FastPass will be likely?

TSM will be a FP attraction. I wouldn't count on soft openings anytime soon. Cast Members aren't starting over there until the first week in April and even then the building isn't going to be handed over to Operations from Imagineering.

There's no problem with me because I'm going down in August (HUMID) so I will get to catch hopefully when all the bugs are worked out. But my friend will be heading down in April but they are DVC so I don;t know what's going to happen with them. By the way, what are soft openings? I have a general idea but I'm not sure if I'm right.

Laughingplace has video and pictures up of the official WDI preview this week of the DCA version of Midway Mania. There's a 15 minute long video of two Imagineers touring you around the loading station and pre-show explaining the whole ride, including the big Mr. Potato Head animatronic.

The Imagineers in the video also explain how Midway Mania was created in the first place three years ago. Lots of pics and stuff too. It looks fabulous!
