Toy Story Mania... Now on the Wii

I'm not a fan of the Wii.

This might be cool though, nice promotion. It won't sell well if they charge for it though.

You know I think a free iPhone/iPod Touch Midway Mania app would be a bigger way to promote the ride, and would also be a hoot for Midway Maniacs like myself.

It won't sell if they charge for it?? That is the point. They aren't making it to get people to the parks alone. They are not going to market this game to ONLY disney park fans, they are going to market it to the kids who buy every wii game that lets you shoot something playful and hopefully it will be a kicker to make people go to DHS and check out the real thing. I personally think it has potential to be a fantastic game. I can't wait. Not sure how they could make an attachment device but I would love it.

This is a great idea! The execution remains to be seen. I doubt we'll get a cool pull-string peripheral. Most wii controller accessories are just shells for the wiimote to sit it. A pull-string would be hard to make work. I'd love to see it, though.

I was actually thinking about this months ago... but my idea included a spring action shooter sold with the game. This will probably be a very fun game... I'm interested to see if it is exactly the same as the ones in the park so I can practice at home.

My family loves our Wii and hopefully, this game will be as cool and fun as many of the other games we have for the system. I don't expect it to be as fun or detailed as the actual attraction, however it will do fine in entertaining us between trips.

I am looking forward to this game release!!! :sohappy:

So when people go to ride TSMM at the parks, they'll be able to say "wow, that was just like playing it on the Wii"

Maybe not a great idea if people can get a similar experience at home for much cheaper? (save for the 3D part, so far...)

I mean, TSMM is a very fun attraction but my one issue with it is that it's not that unique of an idea with home consoles becoming very close to having the same capabilities.

Sounds like fun, I want a cannon though so I can better practice at home. If I get sued to using the Wii controls it's just going to be awkward at DHS.

Wii will not have the themed queue, ride vehicles, 3D, water and wind effects so I would still ride it when I'm at WDW.

Finally, a home-run of an idea! Excellent way to promote the parks!

Now if only they'd get the name right.

I think the reason it is named Toy Story Mania is because it is based on the Toy Story Midway Mania ride. Maybe they have a different name as to avoid confusion.

According to the WDW website, the name of the attraction at DHS is Toy Story Mania (although some references may still include the word "Midway"). The name was shortened right around launch time, in much the same manner as Monsters, Inc Laugh Floor Comedy Club was shortened to Monsters, Inc Laugh Floor (dropping Comedy Club just prior to official opening to the general public).

And yes - I want this when it's available!

Nope, the name IS Toy Story Midway Mania. Just ask any Imagineer or Cast Member, Toy Story Mania is NOT the real name of the ride.

Again, Toy Story Mania: wrong.

This name? ^ Right!

Wow. Nobody in my family (including my son who loves the Wii) liked this game because its just videogame. So now they are releasing it as a videogame for the Wii? :ROFLOL:
I can't see how this would be worth $50. Now, if they released it as WiiWare downloadable for $15 or $20 they might have something worthwhile. Toy Story Midway Mania is basically Point Blank (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point_Blank_(video_game)) with 3d and Toy Story characters anyway, and that was barely worth $50 with a light gun included.

That's like people not going to Fantasmic! or the Haunted Mansion just because they can watch videos on YouTube. If anything, it'll make the ride MORE popular, since owners of the game will feel a certain connection to the ride.

Why go to the park if you can play it at home? Very dumb move and for the last time Disney' it's MIDWAY MANIA! maybe they can release the descent of Spaceship Earth as a video game too.

I will probably purchase this as well. It does acknowledge the biggest problem with TSM though in that the largest component of the ride is effectively a Wii game. With that said, I hope they create spring action shooters that come with the game.

Look at the comment IMMEDIATELY ABOVE YOU to find out. To save you time, I'll say it again.
Following your logic, people won't go to Disney World because they can watch a video of Fantasmic! or the Haunted Mansion on YouTube.
The game is being released to PROMOTE the ride. Not replace it.

The games will be exactly alike. The only difference will be that you are not in a ride vehicle and the screen is smaller and without set pieces. Other than that it is the exact same thing. Maybe' if the games were different then it would make sense. but from the description it is just the attraction on the Wii.

Hooray! Now theres even less reason to wait in line for the ride!!

PS - it will be like every other pointless Wii game with the exception of like, Smash Bros Brawl and maybe 5 others.
