Great attention to detail, they even simulate Sid's back yard at night... :)

It's like how in Cars Land Doc Hudson is alive when you ride RSR, yet Cruz Ramirez from Cars 3 is roaming the land.

No one is getting mad, just making observations.
Except it was explained in a panel at D23 Expo 2011 that RSR takes place in a time BEFORE the rest of Cars Land. Toy story land has no such explanation.

In the Parks
No
Line is currently a very manageable 100 mins for SDD... anyone know if it is currently open access to TSL? Interesting to note that FoP is currently 180 mins. Seems that the opening of TSL has had minimal impact on the popularity of Pandora... (at least from the minimal data points we currently have)

EDIT: More interesting (possibly)... as of this edit, SDD still has a 100 min wait but ToT has a 120 min wait... almost seams odd...

Its best to just realize this is a park that is supposed to be about having fun. The toys are there even if they shouldnt so fans can point to them and say oooooh look there is that character I like. A D23 explanation isn't needed here or in the Cars area.

I’m here now and there are no restrictions on access to the land. Already been on Swirling Saucers and had lunch at Woody’s Lunch Box using mobile order.

I’m in the line for SDD now and it’s moving right along smoothly with consistent train launches. Start of line was inside the FP checkpoint. Since it’s my first ride I don’t have a sense of how long it will be yet. We were under cover in queue in under 5 minutes and there are lots of permanent fans creating great air circulation.

UPDATE: Trains are launching roughly every 50-55 seconds.

UPDATE 2: 55 minutes to FP/SB merge point.

UPDATE 3: standby was posted at 100 minutes when I got in line but actual was 61 minutes until I boarded the train.

UPDATE 4: By the time I got off, the line was again stretched back across the bridge which, based on my experience would be 90-100 minutes. It seems like a bit of ebb and flow so far today.

But that still makes no sense. Unless there's some convoluted back story that explains why you time travel when riding RSR.
They did release this short to promote the land, so time travel might be relevant here.

Either way, they made the effort to make the ride fit canon, so that should be applauded even if you have to suspend disbelief with the time travel element like you would with most theme park lands.

I agree that it's about having fun, but an adherence to canon always creates a better illusion of being in the actual world being portrayed.

I’d go nuts looking around every corner for Canon. I can see myself in New Fantasyland. I’m at the Beasts Castle then at Eric’s castle then at a circus then at Winnie the Pooh then the Dwarf’s mine. How does all that connect via Canon? The mind boggles.

We're talking about a different kind of land here. Toy Story Land was made with a very specific story and it doesn't even stick to the rules that come with it. My criticisms are only based on how the land maintains its own premise.

I'm surprised that ToT's wait is currently an hour longer than Slinky. A S S is also sitting at 55 minutes, which is a little lower than I expected for a 1-day old ride.

Is the hype already beginning to die down? Hm... :bored:

So a few thoughts of my general impression after a quick 2-1/2 hour visit this afternoon on day 2 of operations. I grabbed a same-day FastPass for Alien Swirling Saucers and then standby for Slinky Dog Dash.

- Lots of great energy in the land overall with things like Jessie and Rex reacting to the Slinky Dog trains coming by and Slinky crying out in happiness as he cruises the track.
- Slinky Dog Dash seems to be operating very smoothly with very consistent train launch times of 50-55 seconds between trains. Based on what I saw and the pace they were operating today, if the standby line is all the way back to the dog tag wait time sign, you are looking at ~70 minutes. At normal pacing, if you start there you'll have about 10 minutes in the sun before you are undercover. There are lots of fans in the queue for good air circulation making it much more comfortable than you might expect given how hot it was out there today.
- The extended queue is lined along the rail with a string of umbrellas to add some shade for those standing in the extended queue.
- The ride vehicles are much more open than 7DMT so it's easy to take a backpack or similar and put it on the floor. It does seem that the lapbar might be challenging for people with longer legs. I'm 5-11 and it felt like if my knees were 1" higher it might be troublesome getting the lapbar down. That might just be the way I positioned my feet but something to keep an eye on for taller guests.
- Having ridden Maters Junkyard Jamboree in the past I knew what to expect from Alien Swirling Saucers and it did not disappoint. I always felt Maters was one of the hidden gems that people dismissed as 'dumb' and didn't ride but it's actually a lot more fun than you'd expect. Saucers seems like it may have a lot more energy at night when all the lights are on so I look forward to trying it out after dark soon to confirm that theory. It is a pretty low capacity attraction so the line moves pretty slowly which to me was expected. I rode with a FastPass and it was no time at all to board.
- I had lunch at Woody's Lunchbox using Mobile Order which was a little chaotic but I'm assuming that will smooth out in the coming days and weeks. I chose the briscuit sandwich with macaroni salad, both of which were quite good. I'll definitely be back there again in the future.
