When my FP+ window opened on May 12th I got SDD for one day and A.S.S for the next day...had my choice of times at that point - was odd to me then, but I guess I was just lucky?
Same here. SDD was available when the window opened for our July 11-16 vacation - but only for the final 3 days. A.S.S. was more widely available.

Considering they built the other Toy Story Lands and Dinorama Carnival, and they're peddling Pixar Pier as some amazing new addition, this land still feels above that. JMO of course. I don't see why the flack would be any different. Not like this is new ground for them.

I think it's more because some just don't like it (and that's fine). And any land not featuring a brand new E-ticket and rock work will disappoint the fans apparently.

Agreed. Personally, the rides themselves don't really interest me, and I'm anticipating SWGE much more. But I think the theming is well done, and this fills a gap that has progressively shrunk at DHS, which is things that younger children can do.

Maybe they're just embarassed that it's really bad. Or execs have seen the final land (having never seen the lands in Hong Kong and Paris) and are horrified and plan to spend millions doing it up to Disney standard - wishful thinking !
If that was the case, the new opening date would be summer of 2023.:)

Are you able to go to the preview / media day with her, or is it closed to just them? I'm thinking the latter from your comment. But cool, either way. Are you staying on for opening day?
So the media day for press as of now does not include family of the press. So while she is previewing SDD and A/S/S/ I'll be at the other parks enjoying myself. As to will i be there opening day? Technically my last day in Florida will be opening day, but whether or not i will be able to be there for opening will be determined by when my flight departs.

I'll be interested to see how the music plays in here. I think they did a great job with Mater's Junkyard Jamboree and the music really works.

The music at Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree is definitely a big part of the show and the square dance story why the ride exists. There’s 8 unique songs sung by Mater himself, plus a 9th song for the Halloween version of the ride, and that giant jukebox in the loading area made out of car parts. Brilliant!

It will definitely be interesting to see what they do with the music for A.S.S., and why aliens are swirling. Maybe they just go with spacey sound effects instead of a musical square dancing story?

Didn't someone suggest music by Sir Mix-a-Lot earlier in the thread?

Seriously, maybe the Little Green Men will record some original music to go along with the attraction. I kinda liked the song, The Claw, from the sing-a-long album.

I pictured that in my head and tried desperately not to laugh at such a childish joke but:

Disney and more blog reporting a rumor that toy story land might not open on time due to not being able to finish the queue for tsmm and also needing parts for A S S that haven’t arrived.

I’m most confused by the waiting on parts for A.S.S.

Mater’s has been operating for six years now, and if they needed parts I would think they could borrow from Disneyland.

Heck, they could even close one half of Mater’s to scavenge parts to fly out to Orlando if it meant getting at least one half of A.S.S. open for the media days and grand opening three weeks from now.

The problem I am hearing is that Mater's parts for the ride are based off a 56-57 International Harvester Tow Truck, using the drive train and transmission. The A.S.S. is based on a martian hyper-dimensional solid-state neutron star core reactor. So the parts aren't interchangeable at all and they are waiting for the delivery from Rigel 7.

You forgot the bit about the roof.

Roofs are new to Florida. Had to invent the wheel here.
