Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

And yet Disney has strict scheduling to ensure that two of the same meet and greet characters are not in sight of each other.
That's because there's a huge difference between a character being performed live and an inanimate ride vehicle. No kids have a problem grokking a couple dozen flying Dumbos. They get it. If they see two identical Mickey walk-arounds (or Buzz)... that's just a bummer and bad show.

I agree. With the short amount of track there is, anything more than 3 trains on the track would require holding on a launch. That would ruin the ride. I would hope that Disney doesn't do it.

Who knows! The Door Coaster does keep popping up now and then in conversation.

It seems to me that they will need to replace the star wars meet and greet experience over by art of animation once SWL opens. It might be down the road but I have a hard time imagining it will be long for this world and that Disney is thinking about replacements.

I like the video. It's cheesy in a good way.

But I still wish they decided to name the coaster Slinky Turbo Dash, or something like that, if you see what I mean.

Has an approximate track length been established for Slinky Dog Dash? What about speed for the launches?

On the length, Rider modeled it in a fancy computer program that I don't have, and got an estimate of 3,600 feet. http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/...ollywood-studios.903114/page-376#post-7820797

Which is actually longer than both RnRC and Tron.

That was modeled after the first concept and wasn't completely accurate. I really don't think it'll have more track than RnRC

While it has been adopted by a number of coaster companies including Vekoma and Mack Rides, No Limits is actually a video game and a personal copy is only $40. Once you know the visual style, you’ll realize that most promo videos for new coasters are made with No Limits. It’s really quite an amazing story of a fan doing something that was adopted by the industry.

Gee, where have I seen that vehicle design before?

Considering that the spinner ride system is essentially a rollercoaster track, it's not surprising at all that they're reusing the same vehicles. It looks like there were some modifications to the seatbacks (and presumably restraints) due to the launch, but otherwise it's nearly identical (the floppy ears in the first photo have since been replaced by fiberglass ones).

For those who convinced themselves that this project would be of noticeably higher quality than the lands in Paris and Hong Kong, you may want to reevaluate your expectations. It really is a shame that they're spending so much money with so very little to show for it

Well...how much different did you expect a Slinky Dog train to look? Did you want him to look more like Ariel? Stitch? Lightning McQueen?

Seriously, even if the trains were 100% identical, who cares? NOBODY is going to look at this and snobbishly grunt "Eeew...same vehicle as a spinner in France. I'm not riding thiiiiissss." If I were in charge of this project (and I'm not saying I totally love this project) I'd call it a smart reuse of design.

Y'know, the Haunted Mansion used basically the same vehicles as Inner Space. And the Pirate boats are awfully similar to Small World. Again, though; who cares?

While the Ride vehicle is the same, you really can't say its the same as Paris and Hong Kong. Those attractions are spinners, WDW's is a coaster, that right there is already a plus over those lands.

Agreed. And for the life of me, I can't imagine a Slinky Dog coaster train NOT looking similar to the spinner train. I mean... It's a Slinky Dog. Not a ton of room for variation there... :D
