Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

I'm too the point of saying go ahead and build CarsLand instead of TSL. Same acreage ? Too cool lands that I could send hours in. Plus, Cars sells lots of merchandise.
Or Monstropolis.

It would be original to the park, and if done right make a legitimately immersive land into the Monster World. Door Room e-ticket, Laugh Floor, Put That Thing Back Where It Came From: The Musical! :p, a c ticket dark ride through Monsters University campus in the style of a "college tour" with fun monster gags, and then Harry Housins for food and maybe even a Swiss Family treehouse style walk through up to Mike and Sully's apartment.
And then of course fun monster decor all throughout (The Glob newspaper stands, the monster eye on the window where the kids play with the jump rope, mikes car, the monsters fruit shop from the beginning, stuff along those lines).

I still don't think this thing opens in 2018 which is inexcusable considering when they closed BLT and announced this not to mention the level of theming.
I have to imagine it does, I mean they're slow but not that slow :p If they change plans for the better though I'm ok if it opens a bit later.

I feel like the fact that this is taking exponentially longer has to mean that they're editing. possibly scrapping TSL as a whole. Something's gotta give.
On the other hand, considering the amount of specialized theme park construction that is currently taking place in both WDW and Universal in one small area of the country, it is also possible that there is a problem getting all the construction force necessary to build it instantly and might have to wait until more people are available. But, lets not put reality into the scenario, when we can come up with massive conspiratorial ideas of why they are intentionally dragging their feet.

This is what they need to reconsider.

Hi @Mike S! Wow, I love that concept art, that would have been so awesome! I have always stated from the very beginning that I would have liked to see a Pixar themed land.

With that said, Disney is bringing us Avatarland, Star Wars land, and Rivers of Light. Not to mention, the New Soarin' experience and Frozen Ever After, etc.

So, I appreciate and understand the original concept of Toy Story land. After going through all the hassle just to ride TSM, it would be so nice just to step outside into this cute Toy Story themed area and enjoy a couple of rides.

I liked this concept art. The coaster was nice with bright colors, huge trenches, a drawbridge where the coaster goes underneath and a themed street of some kind. There is some kind of colorful cardboard looking cut out over the coaster and a tall green tower. There are brightly painted blocks everywhere - a huge shovel - a wooden block tower - a ball and pail - the roof is painted with a board game which suggests that the coaster was much more elevated - Al's Toy Barn - Woody's Town - a huge Woody statue, etc.

So, I hope Disney reverts back to this concept or even create something even better than this.

Is the notion that Toy Story Land will be cancelled just fan speculation, or has it been legitimately hinted at by those in the know? Those insightful responses throughout this thread have been few and far between.

I believe what's happened was that @SirLink initially hinted that plans could be reimagined, and later @Disneyhead'71 talked about even more changes to slinky, if not cutting it altogether.

So, no real info about TSL being replaced, for the most part I'd say us fans just kinda took what we got and ran with it. But honestly it really should become Pixar Land, and I hope they're smart enough to see that.

If they scrap TSL as a whole we better get something in return and not just SWL then capacity will be even more of a disaster.
Thered no way we don't get some sort of land (IMO at least). They have to build some sort of land. Not to mention TSMM is gonna need a place to go.

I love Toy Story but I would love it if the plans changed to a Pixar Land. They could actually save money on the land's theme by creating nice brick buildings with large showrooms for the attractions. This would also provide limitless options moving forward for new rides and expansion.

I've been thinking this morning... Basically this is what I would do if I where to change it to a Pixar Land:

-Keep TSMM with the facade that it looks like the concept art has
-Can keep same ride concept that Aliens has (the MJJ thing), but theme it to Bugs Life. I think Bugs Life would be a clever fit for it, you can be sitting in little cardboard boxes (like in Flicks Flyers) while being pulled along by some contraption Flick designed (similar in style to the thing he built in the beginning of the movie for getting seeds). The little bug scouts or whatever they're called can be steering it's
-Some sort of Up boat ride with a giant Paradise Falls forced perspective facade in the distance. The story can be taking place after the movie, and Russel wants to get some sort of wilderness explorer badge. So, you enter the queue through the blimp, and the preshow can be Living Seas esque taking you on a blimp ride to Paradise Falls. Maybe throw in a mild drop in there, but nothing too intense (like Frozenstrom).
-The Monsters Inc door coaster (a must!). This can be a phase two thing, with the goal to get the flat ride and boat dark ride open first for capacity. This would be the main e-ticket of the land though once opened. A full elaborate queue going through the main lobby, the many halls, the trash compactor, the area with the scream extractor, even the locker room for fun Monster gags in the lockers and a creepy Randal animatronic. The ride part can be both intense and have show scenes (I could do a full elaborate write up but I think this is enough :D)
-Replace that main food area with a Pixar Studios esque brick building. Include a cafe style restaurant, merch, meet and greets, and a One Mans Dream style exhibit for Pixar.

Your reason sounds just as made up but we'll go with it. Hey everyone the new conspiracy theory is the construction force for these highly themed lands is very limited in Orlando. It appears with all these new lands being built that there will be even more delays and now Star Wars land may not be completed until 2022. Goofyernmost can confirm that these lands need to wait until more people are available.

That isn't a reason.
I know, I was just trying to make a point, that no matter who we know we do not really have a absolute reason why things don't go faster. There are many, many speculations concerning timing, even budgeting, which has some relevance when one's credit rating is determined a great deal by how much debt and ratio of debt any establishment is currently shouldering or even the ability to properly manage that many projects all at once. They may have a lot of high priced executives, but skilled project managers do not grow on trees. My point was we don't really know 100% for sure, why they time things the way they do so the slant that is used is Disney doesn't care. That I'm not buying. Of course, they care and that is mostly because Wall Street is watching, but, we as "fans" do not acknowledge that little fact of life so we just call them short sighted and lazy. What's that old saying about walking a mile in their moccasins?

It was made up but it is just as legitimate as the other guesses and accusations that are being thrown about. And the rest of you can confirm that that they are delayed because Disney is a large group of highly successful, yet incompetent, a-holes and we, sitting at our computers either at home or our mothers basement, know more about the theme park business then they do. Funny how that works isn't it.
