Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Folks can't have it both ways. You can't write off TSL as being unimpressive but fine because it's a "kiddie-land" but also suggest it is ok that it has a height requirement locking out the target crowd. This is the same issue Stitch's Great Escape suffers from--the concept is quite juvenile, intended for a crowd that cannot ride due to ride mechanism.

Personally, I don't think this was intended to be a kiddie land as some have suggested. I think they really thought it would pass as our Carsland. Hell, they actually had the audacity to compare it to Carsland. This is a slight downgrade from Radiator Springs Racers, to be sure. Especially now that the rock work was cut.
I guess you could be right, but, I don't take my Disney as seriously as some of you folks do. I see it for what it is not what I demand it be. If what it is isn't good enough for me, then I don't go there. If that is selling out, OK, I really wish someone could tell me how it is selling out since I have no power to do anything else other then go there or not. I can not second guess what they intended it to be just because I wanted it different. If it had been up to me, Carsland would be in the process of being built as we speak, rock work and all. But it isn't and I cannot control that no matter how much whining I do. So, I will take it for what it is. I will go there and see what it is. If I like it I might go back, if I don't, I won't. I'm not losing anything, they are. At this point if they put in a pinball machine in that area, it would be a massive improvement over an empty fenced in area.

As for the people that cannot ride Stitch because of the ride mechanism... don't blame the ride on people inability to figure out how things work and adjust to it. It's just a ride no one is performing brain surgery on them. What a bunch of weak humans we have been creating lately. If I could change anything that would be my focus.

The ride mechanism issue mentioned is referencing the 40" height restriction. That can't exactly be adjusted to....

Slight downgrade? ;)

I think that's an interesting point because I tend to think of TSL as the "Bug's Land" part of the DHS expansion, but it is obvious they were aiming for something more ambitious than that albeit not as ambitious as Cars Land. Personally while I can see what they were trying to do, I think it would have been better to have multiple smaller rides in the space over a larger roller coaster given the needs of the park.

Yeah, those stupid kids should just grow up and get taller.

I'm sure that you realize that I misunderstood that original statement. But, it does prove a point that not everything is for everyone. Those setups for Stitch were originally for Alien and that was not for small kids without any consideration of their height. The statement was not specific from the poster and I made an assumption that I shouldn't have made. I think the restriction for that and the new one, if that is how it ends up, are for two completely different concerns.

I think the most apt comparison for Slinky would be Flight of the Hippogriff at Islands of Adventure. As a supplemental offering, it's likely to be quite enjoyable for what it is and a pleasant alternative to Rock 'N' Rollercoaster (or Hulk), but for a year it will have to serve as the park's big new signature attraction, and it, like Frozen Ever After before it, will not be able to live up to the expectations that will accompany its circumstances.

Hippogriff is comparable to barnstormer. This is a double launch coaster. Quite possibly the lamest double launch coaster on the planet!

Hippogriff is more of a Mine Train (minus the show scene) in terms of length and thrill than a Barnstormer. I understand the sentiment that it probably won't live up to the expectation of thrill that a double launch coaster would suggest, but when the expansions are completed it will fit in quite nicely with the park's offerings. The problem is that it's coming first, and as such will shoulder all of the weight on its own for a while, and it's going to suffer for it.

It will be the lamest coaster experience in the south east U.S., bar none.

Disney fans will sing it's praises like it's the second coming.

I would say Hippogriff is a half-step above Barnstormer. At least it has the Hippogriff animatronic and Hagrid's Hut, plus it is a little higher than Barnstormer at 41 feet. Barnstormer has a billboard cutout and about a 25 feet height.

Seven Dwarf's Mine train is a well-themed coaster with a dark ride section. SDMT is greater than an exposed kiddie coaster with some scenery like Flight of the Hippogriff..

Disney should realize that people will feel better waiting in line 1 and a half hours if the ride is worth it. When people wait in line this long and get a 1.5-minute coaster like SDMT or the TS coaster, they leave disappointed. If the ride is awesome, the wait doesn't matter as much.

Epcot was great because you would wait 45 minutes, but then you got a 12-14 minute ride experience. It was worth it.

How will people feel when they line up for 2 hours to ride such a short coaster? I guess they will FP+ it.

I hope the height limit allows kids to ride this kid coaster.

Sorry for rambling.
