In the news today it was announced that Disney is creating a digital animation studio in Glendale to begin production of Toy Story 3, without Pixar:lookaroun.

I don't know how to make a link. Go to Yahoo news for the story

Yeah, this has been mentioned by Disney Execs previously. Most people are pretty worried about Disney doing this alone. I know I am. <fingers crossed>

About time Disney made their own 3D studio department, talk about being late to the prom. Better late then never, I guess. The unfortunite news is that Disney is doing another sequel.

Smells like a PR move.... I mean, there's no way that the timing of this announcement is anything but. I wonder how far in advance they planned this... only 2 weeks after "The Incredibles" premiered... hmm.... the movie is kicking all kinds of a$$ at the box office, so it's dubious. If it had tanked, the announcement would still have stunk of PR. I guess Disney can't win on this one.

I, too, dread seeing a non-Pixar "Toy Story" movie. It's just not right.

I normally don't root against Disney movies flopping, but I hope it does. Or better yet, enough people chastize Disney for doing it it doesn't happen. (not holding my breathe though).

Unless Disney is trying to play a really risky game of chicken with Pixar and uses this as a threat for them to re-sign. Otherwise I expect Jobs to put out a "hit" on Eisner. :D

If I am not mistaken pixar was good in the 3D relm of actually doing the 3D animation, Pixar hooked up with disney because it had no direction. The charecters I beleive were from disney imagineers, so as long as the story line is there disney now has the technology and if the get the right people in it will be fine. My only concern is they will try to do it on the cheap and loose good people and in the end shoot themselves in the foot. if done right this could be a BIG step for disney.

Yeah, I can't invision a non-pixar Toy Story 3.

Although I don't know what a Pixar movie would be like w/out the Disney influence. Sure enough, Pixar is the creative force behind the movies, but Disney has a lot to do w/ the final product. If you look on the Pixar site, all of the casting (voices) for Pixar films are done through Disney. And I'm sure that's not the limit of Disney's quality control on the Pixar films.

ABC News Link Has the same story maby.. just thoght to show you this one....

I think if they can do it right... i say go ahead... if tom hanks doesn't go with it... Dont do the movie..... if Tim alen doesn't do it.. Stop production....

A sequel is only greater if the original voices come back...

The article stated that "Disney is hiring animation heavy weights from rival animation studios and effects shops." This could be a great beginning for second generation computer animation technology

Speaking of Tom Hanks... I can't remember where online that I saw the story, but I read that Tom said at this point he is not interested in another Toy Story sequal unless Pixar is making it. So, if Tom Hanks doesn't do it I hope that Disney doesn't try to recast the role. I would hate to see this movie with someone trying to sound like Hanks. It just brings back bad thoughts of the Genie without Robin Williams, ugh :brick:

Disney hasn't produced a great story for years. Management doesn't let them. They're now using Pixar's characters in their underdeveloped 3-D studios - and they can't even come up with an animated success on their own.

That's mooching.

NAh, I see it more as like Disney is infested with something (chestbuster/ spirit of satan depending on which movie you're watching). We don't want the good bit of disney to fail just the bad bit.
I agree with you guys anyway, its sacrelidge screwing with those toys. LEAVE EM ALONE. I would have expected them to stop milking these franchises for all they're worth. Mulan 2, Little Mermaid 2, Aladdin 2, Beauty and the Beast 2. I could go on forever. What do these have in common? They all F-A-I-L-E-D. Stick that in your blunt and smoke it. Yeah I said blunt.
