I'm really sure MS will be great and so's RNRC and Splash but I always thought Walt would just have loved TOT. The atmosphere, the unknown, the theming all the detail and the thrills he would have been especially proud. TOT was no holds barred unlike the rest of the latest rides (bar TT I think);)

I'd have to agree.....the WDW co. did an anmazing job on the attraction.....the detail blows me away.....and when they open the doors at the top u can really take in how beautiful WDW is.....

I'm sure it would have been one of Walt's favorite rides....

This is the ONE thing that I can't wait to go on in November. My 6 year old (she'll be 7 then) can't wait either.

Is it really *that* scary though? My 5 year old is a bit of a chicken and I'm wondering if she'll be able to handle it.

If she's tall enough and wants to go don't hold her back. Let her choose.

The thing about the whole ride is the anticipation of the drop. I think thats the worst lol. For me it's not like Splash Mountain where I don't even worry about the drop anymore and I just take in the ride. Every time ya ride ToT there's the surprise of the drop. I'd say if your daughter is afraid of drops or the dark ToT definately wouldn't be for her....but like I said let her choose. :)

As for this attraction being something Walt would be proud of...I definately agree. The theming is one of the best jobs WDI has ever done.

It's easily the scariest ride on the Disney property, but I think a 7 year old could handle it. It's the first drop in complete darkness that freaks people out...that and the ghosts.

I agree that Walt would be proud of the attention to detail. I also think he would be proud of the ToT's originality. I could be wrong, but to me its innovative. Like so many things in Walt's time, Disney took the lead on this one. They took an existing ride format and made it their own.

Holly....you're post reminded me of this incident...

when we were there a couple of weeks ago, there was a girl about 7 years old who was terrified of the ride sitting behind us with her dad.....As BAD luck would have it, the ride broke down during the last freefall and we sat suspended in total blackness for about a minute with the girl screaming in total panic....we all tried to assure her but nothing helped....the lights finally went on but we were stuck for at least another 5 minutes staring at a wall....the elevator slowly sank to the bottom where we sat another 5+ minutes...it was traumatic for her...the girl is probably scarred for life...

...the chances are real good that nothing like this will happen to you but thought you should assure your kids (and yourself:D ) that the ride is perfectly safe, even if it should stop at some point...we've been on the attraction at least 75 times without incident.

..by the way, they let us ride again without waiting and we got a good look at all the gadgets that make the elevator run...and got a good look at those figures that you see as you drop...

..have fun

My almost 7 year is fearless - too fearless if you ask me. She would've probably loved it if the ride broke and she got stuck *anywhere* for any longer than anyone else.

Me, on the other hand, would run through every possible bad outcome ... and would probably scream louder than that scared 7 year old.

Time to pack the Ativan.

;)

Am i the only one who holds his arms up in the air while falling? When we get off the ride and go check out the pictures, everyone else has a death grip on the bar. I think we tick off people behind us, b/c with our hands up, we block their faces for the pics. That's why we always request the back row.:D :D

I don't hold my arms up myself, but I have seen lots of people do it. I've never noticed anybody get ticked off about it. The picture is probably the last thing on most peoples' mind at that point. :)

Herbie, you gotta try it. It is great for the last rise and fall. It helps you to get some air between you and the seat. it's great

I just might! I'm not sure though, I usually get quite a bit of air because I'm skinnier than the rest of my family. That lap bar is usually a good four or five inches away from me.

Disney should have made it even more terrifying and had the elevator sit up there for five minutes and then have the entire drop sequence begin again without warning:) By the way, I don't put my hands up, but I always request the seatbelt seat:) It's so great...during the drops you can just kick your legs out in that seat and get great air time. Also try the 'quarter trick'...put a quarter in your hand during the drop sequence and it will hover over your hand for a few seconds.

....when you share a seat with me in ToT, chances are the bar will NOT be snug against your stomach...consequently, the effect of zero Gs is apparent on the bodies sitting next to me as they float in the air and slam down onto the seat at the bottom of the fall.

My 11 year old loves to come way off the seat and experience the weightlessness for as long as she can.:D
