Rumor Tower of Terror to gain new theme?

The Twilight Zone IP allows for a meta premise that works so well with the theme of the park. You are going into a lost episode of the TV show. None of this Toy Story Land crap, where the very weak connection is that the land is based on a franchise that originated on the big screen. No, this actually involves the medium as part of its premise. Nevermind the golden-age Hollywood focus. The Tokyo version is arguably a stronger ride on its own (not that I agree), but it would certainly be weaker in relation to the park.

Buzz Lightyear may be a stronger character than Captain Phasma on his own, but would you rather see him than her in Star Wars?

It's really funny to see some of the same folks who cry about Disney Parks becoming "IP LAND!" in one thread who then say "Don't touch one hair on the ToT's head!"

Conceptually it was completely different though. They didn't say in the early 90's that they had a Twilight Zone IP they REALLY needed to use somewhere....they had the idea for a haunted hotel/drop tower first. It was even supposed to be a humorous Mel Brooks style haunted hotel at first before eventually deciding on a theme that worked, and wasn't even owned by Disney or MGM.

Oh I know, I know...LOL. It's just funny what time buys you in terms of acceptability.

I really hope they leave the TOT alone in Florida. I just feel it really works there, with the the theme, the look and atmosphere.

It was probably the first "big ride" I ever went on as a kid so has some great sentimental value for me, it still gives me goosebumps now.

I am all for change for the better for some rides and attractions but for me this is one that is fine as it is.

Outhouse IP's in MGM has always the nature of the beast. The very park is about Hollywood product.

If Disney were to build a Fantasyworld park, I would totally argue for Frozen in the Nordic area and Rat in France.

You do realize they could easily just remove the Twligiht Zone element and stick it to the version that was used for the made for Tv movie right?

Yes... but the bigger question is, why the heck would you???

Although now that I think about it a AA of Guttenberg would be quite humorous, only thing left would be the need to add a Jeff Goldblum AA somewhere...

You don't even need to add Guttenberg at all...The opening of the movie plotline does it without the 5th diemension plot...

They’re not.

Expect Tower to go down for a short time later this year for a regular refurb.

Arrrggh. I hope it's either really short, gets postponed or happens before or after my trip! LOL I am going with my GF the first 2 weeks of September and it's her favorite attraction. She'll be mad if it's closed when we go. She just missed experiencing TGMR and UoE this past summer when we visited this past summer and still isn't over that. Hahaha Although she was finally able to experience DW's ToT and loved it. We both don't care for GOTG: MB as much as we did for ToT.

If the Twilight Zone theme is jettisoned because of the decree that everything must be a Disney IP, then a SEA or Doctor Strange theme would work with very minimal changes. Nothing like what happened in Anaheim. Wouldn't have to touch the outside (except for putting Doctor Strange's circular logo on in one of the O's of 'Hollywood').

But... Twitter rumor. 🙄
