The only thing being made fun of is the whole name change issue, not the tragedy itself. Don't misunderstand us here. Just because something is named similar to something else doesn't mean anything.

imagine trying to fit that into my name! this whole wanting to change the name of ToT really irritates me. i think that all these people having a fit over the name of a ride need to calm down. yes, i realize that it affected a lot of people, but disney isn't trying to offend anyone. this ride clearly has nothing to do with 9/11; it was made almost 10 years before the attacks! disney is 'magical' but i don't think they can predict the future. :brick:

I know you weren't making fun of the tradgedy, and you were just saying about the name...but to some people, this affected them, and I think that we should just accept that..People that lost someone think about it all the time, and things like that may get them going....I understand your point though.

And may I just comment on what polyman 65 said, "As said before in a couple years there will be a movie about it and no one will care, just like Pearl harbor." I really don't think that's true, at all. I think people will still care in a couple of years.

Happy New Year

I agree. I think it was some word misuseage here but I don't believe it was meant to sound the way it came across. True, it will be much longer than a few years from now. Titanic and Pearl Harbor happened several generations ago, but when the time comes I do think a movie (or whatever form of entertainment is available) will be made into a dramatic story and people will be accepting of it at that time. Obviously people will always care and have sympathy or other strong emotion. Heck, I was teary eyed at the end of Titanic when the ship was going cause I knew this really happened, this will be the case for 9/11 as well and propably that much more so than PH or Titanic.

Just gotta throw in my $.02 here. The whole of America felt a loss on 9/11, and some definitely felt it more than others. However, I think we need to move past it. Not forget it, but also not be so touchy over it. I get the impression that a few of the people who make a big stink over names like the "Tower of Terror" (which has been open at WDW for years, why are they only whiuning about it now?!) are doing it for the attention. They know they can get attention, and they milk it for all it's worth. That's certainly not to say that everyone who cries foul is like that, but I'm sure there are a few.

Hello all,

Thanks All41 for posting that article. The lady who made the claims about the ToT float (Sally Regenhard) has made my life a little bumpy over the past two-ish years. The K9 team I am with, worked for the first 10 days at the WTC site following the attacks looking for bodies and parts. Not long after we returned home she started her attacks about people/groups/companies that were making her more of a victim. She even said we "are victimizing the families of the victims". How are we making her more of a victim? Don't know but I guess Disney is somehow doing the same in her twisted eyes.

I do understand it was a bad thing but this lady needs to quit dwelling on it and pointing at everybody else saying they are making her more of a victim. This most recent attack by her on Disney is a bit too much.

Sorry if the above offends anyone but I am very sick and tired of this lady she has taken things a bit too far.

The Theme of this years Rose bowl parade was " music Music Music" , which means film ,tv, radio, concert ,orchestra, country, rock, nursery rhym, classical , and so forth.... Since The Twilight Zone's Theme music is very recognisable to the ear ,it made since for Disney to promote it's new attraction and helps the sci-fi channel to keep running old episodes .

There isn't at our ToT. But that's the storyline over there at DCA...Which makes sense, because California has earthquakes,(and obviously) and Florida doesn't...it also keeps in with the DCA theme(of California, of course)

Well if you cut/paste this issue into that issue, Oahu or Nantucket etc. would have had to have been invaded by terrorists, or something of the sort, to deem the term "islands of adventure" offensive.

As far as this woman is concerned, everyone reacts differently to trauma/tragedy. I know folks who have been able to move on and mourn their loved ones privately after 9/11. But this woman is a prime example of someone who can't, and that's alright. I don't think any of us can really dictate how she should be feeling about how her loved one(s) perished. I don't think she's anti-Disney, she's just anti-anything to do with sense memory of that tragedy.

Personally, I don't know what ToT has to do with roses or Mickey Mouse.

Bad move, but does Disney care? They can't see past the fill of their pocket.

Why are you juxtaposing Eisner and Disney as a whole? I'll bet that people at Disney objected putting that float out in front of 800,000 people live and millions others at home, but Eisner insisted because he wanted the money. Yet another reason he should leave Disney and go work for a company he can bring up to his relatively low level, such as Universal.

"Disney" as in the current company, which is under Mr. Eisner's control.

I thought it was totally out of place. Its themeing was irrelevant - after such great floral displays of Lincoln, Statue of Liberty, etc.

Roy Disney was right on his website - it should have been more charming for a rose parade - a nice castle or Finding Nemo (I mean, don't all families and kids love Nemo?!) Or Jack Sparrow. . . the ideas are endless.

Instead, it's a straight-out advertisment. It looked impressive height-and feature-wise, but, at the same time, out of place and disgusting. Disney could use it in a park parade for MGM or DCA. . .

Our Terror Alert is Code Orange - the second to highest. There are constant terrorist attacks in Iraq and elsewhere in the world. I think the LAST thing we need - especially in a Rose parade - is a float about terror.

Is this a good way to ring in the New Year?

I think we are taking this way to seriously. It was a float in a parade, that advertised a great new ride. You cant expect DLR to build a ride of the grandest scale, and not advertise it. I got no problem with the float, I liked it.

Besides, it was shown on tv for 5 minutes, at noon. The people who WERE up at noon, and happend to have the tv on that channel, and happend to see the float probably thought it was a very cool float. I sure did.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in my life. These people who are complaining about the coincidence need to remember the fact that the Tower of Terror was the Tower of Terror a long, long 7 years before any of this Ground Zero, World Trade Center, Twin Tower, September 11th stuff. It was terrible in 2001, yes...but the Disney Company's ToT came first! I see no problem with it. Some people need to get a life.

I don't think it's a matter of getting a life - sure, they should move on. But remember that the spirit of the rose parade is in beauty, inspiration, and ringing in the new year. A tower of terror, while impressive (yes! I agree!!), does not fit in this kind of event - especially for the "Disney float" - seeing Lincoln and the Eagle and the Statue of Liberty and characters and flowers. . .and then seeing a dropping elevator. I'm sure Nemo, princesses, pirates, and the Fab 5 would have even brought more attention to the family audience that goes to the parade.
