Was there today, the whole ride is a bit too bright, audio was fine, the backlight on the lcd screens are fine, it does not light up the room or anything,I don't know why people are complaining about that. Alot of effects are broken though.

I rode it on Sunday, August 10th, and the scene with the family and bellhop was messed up. After the electrical effect, the lights stayed on. Not sure which tower. . . Far right side.

Yep, the TV is supposed to be inconspicuous, like so that a first time visitor may not even be aware that that's what you'll be watching. The lightning strike is supposed to "ignite" the TV to life. This effect is lost if the TV is already glowing brightly when you walk in the room. Also when the screen is glowing with no image, its obvious that its a modern HDTV.

Some might consider this nitpicky, but Tower of Terror is all about the little details, and I'm holding WDW to the standard it set for itself in the past.
Now i see why people are not liking the new screens.

Ya, one side was like that too, was so strange. I rode about 4-5 times yesterday and that only happened once though.

This is what the TV's look like when you enter and exit the room:

Sorry for another low quality picture, but you get the idea.

The LCD backlight being on is a true oversight and stupid since it could be fixed with a little Disney Magic (simple programming). It does take away from the original intent of looking around a dark room and being surprised when the TV bursts into life.

Details such as these are lost by people tasked with doing a job rather than people who own the entire experience. There is just no quality control oversight because the people who know or care are not on the project anymore.

Imagine the haunted mansion with poor lighting, as in, too bright? The effects and ambiance would be ruined.

Much like ToT's boiler room these days.
I remember the days (maybe sometimes still hapens) where the boiler room's lighting was variable, dimming when the elevator shafts powered up. There were all kind of effects, like fiber optic sparks and flickering lights. I even think there were sounds piped in from time to time.

These issues would be fixed with a simple re-calibration every month or so as part of normal operating procedure. Sound levels and light levels would be returned to original specification and monthly checklists for all effects would be completed and reviewed by a manager. I'm sure all of this is "in place" today, but it's either ignored or half-assed. Most of the audio and lighting issues could be programmed to automatically return to baseline, but I think the baseline is out of whack as the years pass.

If I were in charge, I would be such a hard , but my ride would be running like a top. Unfortunately, Disney doesn't seem to empower the people in charge to make these changes or they have stopped caring or both. Both are troubling.

I encourage all of you to submit these concerns to Disney: wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

They know all about the yeti but maybe these (much much simpler to fix) issues have just slipped under the radar. Remember that it's unacceptable for them to charge premium prices to experience these attractions and not bother to do basic quality checks and ensure the ride is configured properly, let alone fixing broken effects.

Especially a top tier flagship attraction like Tower of Terror.

Just wanted to check in here. We were at DHS on Saturday. The boiler room seemed pretty dark to me. Not pitch black, but dark.

Also, we rode in the Bravo shaft and I noticed that the audio was very loud throughout. That surprised me. Not sure if it was unique to Bravo, but I have been on the ride 20+ times before and it's been very quiet in some spots.

Did you ride at night? Supposedly, the boiler room still gets dark at night, but is overly bright throughout the day. Not like blinding bright, but too bright to be creepy. That's how it has been every time I've ridden it in the past year or two.

Good to hear about the Bravo shaft. Last time I rode that one it was too quiet to really hear anything.

The lights above the loading platforms still do this, and the motors to the side of the load shafts still have strobe effect sparks in them, but the audio for them is not timed properly (the spark noises do not match the strobes) and is really quiet.

The floor used to be illuminated by show lighting fading in and out. Now, if you look at it, most of it is burnt out, some of it is blinking on and off inexplicably, and overall the normal lamps are too bright (at least during the day) for the show lighting additions to have any effect.

It was around noon. My first ride was in 2010 to give you an idea of how I've experienced the atteaction. Maybe it used to be much darker.

But yes, the audio was great. Definitely a big difference from my last few rides which were inaudible in parts.

Yeah...you're correct. I could have sworn the sparks used to be fiber optic and not strobes. Can anyone confirm?

Yeah I just rode and the lights were pretty bright compared to how they were in the past. Also the TV screen is like a bright purple when it's not on, it's way too obvious that's the focus

I've got to the bottom of the boiler room lighting problem. No surprises it could be easily fixed.

There should be different modes depending on how bright it is outside.

As of now, the controller is not programmed right. Yes, all it takes is someone to authorise a tweak to return things to how they were designed and should be.

And so the lighting system is all bumped up higher than it should be. Dark is bright and bright is very bright.

How hard can it be? Really?

How long has it been like this?

I urge anyone who cares to write and email in a polite and un-geek like way. Let them know guests do notice.

I'm here right now and the boiler room lighting looks like it always has, which is good.

Excuse the terrible picture, but it actually looks great; nice and dark. The audio on the ride was fine, I rode the one closest to the entrance from the tv room. The LCD screen is pretty terrible though I have to say.
