For a lot of us, this is much of what makes it so great. The ride would be inherently inferior if the TZ theming were removed.

I don’t necessarily disagree that the show element would be lesser. I don’t think the ride experience would be lesser, though, if that makes sense. Regardless, I don’t think this is something that’s going to happen eminently. At the very least, not until they see how this movie does.

They are currently refurbishing the "lightning bolt wall" in both drop shafts. I noticed that back in August, it was missing the covers and internals, and on September 12th, they started reassembling it on Echo side. Currently they still need to put back on the main front covers, and then it will probably be re-enabled again. Foxtrot side is still empty though. Here is a picture from last month when it was completely empty, just the sides and back of the enclosure:

As of at least last week the ghost mannequin strobes and air blasts(!) seem to have been fully fixed on Echo side - when I was last at the parks in August only the strobes were working. Don't wanna get my hopes up too much but between this and the slow replacement of the lightning bolt strobes Tower may finally be receiving some much needed TLC:
Foxtrot had neither last month.
Wow. Lower doors were closed, the starfield at the elevator shaft wasn't working, no strobes, obviously the breaking window projector is still black and white (which irritates me to no end)... I'm sure there are other things I simply don't remember anymore because it's been so long since they worked. Hopefully it was just a bad day.
Nah this has GOTTA be a temp issue, so many things are wrong here that there has to have been some sort of glitch with the ride. (the scrim getting stuck and being so clearly visible hurts my soul)
Sorta reminds me of that one stream from late 2020 where the audio system almost entirely gave out if anyone remembers that.
Thankfully it seems to have been temporary after all, this currently ongoing stream from Alpha/Echo shows everything back to normal (well the current norm at least). Will update with a timestamp once the stream finishes:

That's completely inexcusable.
Fun fact - while Universal has separate technician departments for ride show elements vs. ride mechanical elements, Disney does not. Thus, you get things like this where they clearly just installed a projector and left it on the default settings because they don't know any better since their specialty is mechanical elements. Alternatively, they don't have time since the mechanical work takes priority.

ugh that's so disappointing to here. As it always been this way? I feel like Disney used to be better about this

Everything plummeted with the maintenance of show effects after the pandemic. There used to be a person with the user name Rod Serling on here who worked with the maintenance department at Tower and I was able to relay issues to them and know what was going on. They disappeared after the pandemic, and everything started to go downhill after.

Universal having a dedicated technician department for attraction show elements and Disney not predates the pandemic though. I believe it has always been this way or at least for quite a while.

I believe that the refurbished lightning bolts have been enabled, though now it is with LEDs instead of strobes. It was visible for less than a second from a stream two days ago, could anyone who is at DHS this week confirm or get a video of it? Streamers seem to be avoiding Tower recently making it hard to track.
