Tough choice akl or pofq

Hello All, I just got back from the World (Feb 5th). Stayed at AKL which I have really gotten use to. I am in the process of planning my next trip for
July 14th-22nd. here is my situation. I was thinking about maybe trying to save a little money but am not sure if I would be happy. Here are my two choices: 1) stay at AKL and get the Disney Dining Plus or 2) staying at POFQ
and getting the Disney Deluxe Dining. I got the Deluxe Plan on my recent staying @ AKL in Feb. and it was allot of food. I think I had like 5 sit down meal credits I did not use. By the way, can you carry those over to your next visit? Any opinions are really appreciated. Are you out there Master Yoda? Help please!!! Really ready to book soon. Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no carrying of points between trips.

I'd pick your location based on where you want to be - not what food will be free. You can always pay for more food, you can't change where you are staying each night.

Just out of curiosity, if you were to go with POFQ why would you get the deluxe plan. You said it was too much food last time, so it seems that it would just be a waste to get it again when the regular plan seems to suffice.

DisneyInsider, You have a good point, as a previous person replied, I could always pay for a place (to save pts) for say a sit down (pay out of pocket). I am so use to both AKL & WL (only two places I have ever stayed) and I am
concerned it may be a let down or disappointment over at POFQ, even though allot of people think it is a really nice moderate resort. I have gotten
used to chilling out after dinner at Victoria Falls, and I believe it would be quite a cab ride from Victoria Falls to get back over to POFQ.

I would also base this decision on the resort experience I'm most looking for vs. the food. POFQ is a gorgeous resort, one I've thoroughly enjoyed both times I stayed there. However, for me it doesn't have the same resort experience that the lodges you mentioned. I would leave the food out of the equation & look at the resorts alone. What do you want to get out of your resort experience?

BTW, POFQ does have the Scat Cat which is a nice little bar area with a cafe feel located just outside Sassagoula Floatworks. They have live entertainment a couple nights a week that really gets the whole area jumpin.

I haven't stayed at AKL but love WL, and have stayed at POFQ many times and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Like sweetpee said there is live music, but you can also walk or boat ride to POR and see YeeHaw Bob. He is one of the best entertainers at WDW. And you also have the boat ride to Downtown Disney, which is another added bonus.

Of course, POFQ is not going to be as nice as the AKL, but it is still a nice place to stay.
I agree, the Deluxe DP would be way too much food for us...we get stuffed on the regular dining plan.
Unfortunately, you can't use any left over dining credits on another trip.

I actually prefer POFQ over AKL, and over some other deluxe's. It's a beautiful resort. And it's quiet - there's lots of places to relax & unwind. I would stay at POFQ, and skip the deluxe dining plan since you said it was a waste for you last time. Use the extra cash to get more park days, or add hoppers, have a few more sit-down dining experiences, go see La Nouba, or something else that appeals to you. :)

If you get the deluxe plan go to the dinners that count as 2 sit down meals, like Cinderella's Royal Table, hoop de doo revue, mickeys backyard bbq, the Polynesian dinner show, ALL the signature restaurants, and then that would leave you only 1 meal left for the day.

I am not understanding why Deluxe dining @ PO? If you go to PO to save money and you already mentioned that the Deluxe dining is too much food then get the the regular dining plan. However I personally would go for AKL first anyway. So my recommendation is that you go with AKL and the regular dining plan. Do not waste the money on the deluxe dining plan or the regular dining plan if you do not plan on using all the credits. Preplan you meals before you book your resort reservation to see what would work best for you.
