Right, and when TOT is closed for a week every 2 years or so to replace the cables, that's for show as well?
I was misinformed, as I stated in the post you so eloquently quoted. There is no reason to be a smart a$$.

The ride is operated by a...I don't remember what it's called exactly...but it's like a pump. Anyway. It is hydraulic.

No no no and NO! :brick:
It's simply one LOOPED cable that is attached on the top AND the bottom of the elevator.

The only hydraulic element in the ride is a "worst case scenario" safety device at the bottom of the shaft. In the extremely improbable event that the cable snaps AND the breaks fail, a couple of hydraulic pistons at the bottom of the shaft will act as a "cushion".

Your friend was probably confusing TOT with the Doom Towers at IOA. Those use a hydraulic system to shoot you upward.

Dear oh dear...

You do drop. A lot. You are pulled faster than gravity. Your friend at work was very wrong.

Have a look at http://www.towerofterror.org/ >library>all videos>behind the tower of terror for a video showing plenty of AGV`s, VVC`s, drops, motors and CABLES (which as NYFrenchy said are looped)

he said that someone who works there told him that it's only about an 8 foot drop and after that, it's just lighting and shaking and the walls moving but you're not really falling.

May be your friend is mixing it up with Spiderman at IOA.
