Tornado Warning

There are storm-safe areas all over the property. Nearly all CMs are trained on what to do if servere weather hits. No worries.

Disney has plans for iminent threats from severe weather. At the MK the Utilidors become shelters, each main structure in Epcot is a shelter as well as the Innoventions basement, and the other parks and guest areas have designated buildings.

me thinks it would smell awfully "ripe" if several thousands had to be sheltered in the utilidors or underground......:hurl: can you imagine the task of getting everyone in them? I wouldn t want to be a CM at that moment:zipit::lookaroun

I know this might sound silly but do they have plans incase of a terrorist attack. Not that I think it could happen but there are a lot of people in the parks during the summer. Do they have a plan for something like a chemical attack?

Not a silly question at all. I remember right after 9/11 Disney parks were brought up quite a bit.
There was talk that some plans were found about a list of potential places to hit and one was Disneyland.
Also, there was a huge story about a missing crop duster plan ordeal in Central Florida.Something about the talk of someone could take a crop duster over WDW and spreading anthrax.
If I Remember right, they had some f-16's from McDill AFB in Tampa watching WDW airspace for a while.

Some time after 9/11 there was a special on one of those newsmagazine shows, perhaps 20/20, about the possibility of a terror attack in America's amusement parks. The Disney parks, obviously, were one of the show's main focuses. During the course of the program, it was revealed that Disney has consulted with (maybe they still are??) Homeland Security about a response plan if an attack appears to be imminent, and how to respond to an attack that was carried out. They didn't reveal too many details, for obvious reasons, but the gist of it all was that, they've planned as best they possibly could. However, anytime you have large groups of people gathering in one area, no matter how well you plan, a terror attack is going to be catastrophic.

Just out of curiousity, does Disney have any policy for what to do with guests in the event of a tornado warning?

I can tell you, a tornado warning is the luckiest thing that can happen at WDW (as long as you don't get hit by a tornado) We were there in the spring of 05 and woke up to a tornado warning that expired the same time MK opened, the place was at about 10 percent capacity before noon.:sohappy:

WishandDream...the tornado policies fall under the ABC plans or evacuation of the parks as do any other activity where a park needs to be evacuated. In this sense, evacuate means moving guests and cast members out of the park itself. Remember backstage is not technically part of the "park."

Evacuation C Plan is to seek immediate shelter. If this is called, the park in question has belief a threat is in the area and headed their direction. With C Plan, any person outside, guests, cms, etc, are asked to drop everything and told to get inside the nearest buildling, where they are directed to the appropriate safe place. In some situations, CMs will direct guests to a backstage entrance to head to a building or in the case of Magic Kingdom or Epcot, the utilidors.

Hope that helps.
