I tend to agree w/ all points. DVC is especially something I almost got sucked into, but my Mom said I was crazy!
Duffy? I just don't get it.
Paying so much money for MNSSHP and MVMCP is outrageous! I know people swear by it, but another parade, fireworks, candy, extra character meet n greets ( very long lines and oh so crowded!), hot chocolate, and fake snow? I am agog and aghast!
Dole Whips are just ok.
I did want to move to FL and work for the mouse, but again this time my Dad said I was crazy!

Actually the thing I loved the most about MNSSHP was the fact it had the best wait times we've ever experienced. And we went on one of the busier times of the week too. I personally feel that is worth the money. Experiencing the atmosphere and practically never having to wait for a ride is worth the cost for me. We walked on all the big rides that was amazing.

10) I whole-heartedly agree, with the exception of the Star Wars Weekends parades!

8) I have been going to the parks for almost 30 years now, and it wasn't until a couple months ago that I tried my first Dole Whip. It is defintely a tasty treat on a hot and humid day, but soft-serve crack? I don't get it!

7) Friendly competition... And Toy Story themeing! I LOVE the queue, and how they make you feel like you're a toy in Andy's room.

6) I am 100% with you on this, I have wanted to do a few of the seperate ticketed events, but can't wrap my head around the cost.

Duffy, the Disney Bear -Pointless to add yet another meaningless character to the Disney line-up. Don't they already have Baloo and Winnie the Pooh? What's the point of Duffy, exactly?

I agree, but that's because I don't personally see any appeal in Duffy. I will at least credit Disney for creating a new character exclusive to the parks and not born out of synergy. (Personally I'll take more like Figment for park characters.)

10). Parades
I have no problem using the word hate when it comes to parades. Absolutely hate parades, even the added Disney magic doesn't do anything for me. It's been a very long time since I've seen the night-time parades so maybe I'd enjoy those more as many people seem to love them.

8). Dole Whips
21 years have passed since my first trip....still have never had a Dole Whip. It is on my list of things I need to try.

7). Toy Story Midway Mania
Have not been on this yet. Last trip our DHS day started late so we missed out on fast passes and with a 4 year old and 2 babies we decided a 2 hour wait was too much. We wanted to go back another day to ride it but it didn't happen.

4). Interactive Games
I've never noticed anyone playing the games in the parks. Probably because once I know where we're going next I tend to just stare straight ahead and get to my destination.

Hate is a pretty strong word. I can't say I "hate" anything about WDW. I do agree with you about Wish-upon-A-Star, but it works in Disney because you are no longer in the real world.

10. Agreed. I don't bother with parades anymore. Now, I would dfinately wait hours for a parade like the current ones they have in Tokyo.
9. Might I add, ungodly expensive. Disney is way overdoing it and overreaching with the DVC as well.
8. I thought it was good when I tried it. But I didn't think it was THAT great.
7. I think it looks fun, but I honestly wouldn't wait hours to ride it. Not sure why Disney is hyping it as the greatest thing ever.

2. Disagree with you here! I think you're interpreting the song the wrong way. The song is really a message of hope that great and seemingly impossible good things can happen and come seemingly out of nowhere. Doug Walker explains it pretty well in this video:

Hey Bob and any others that have an opinion about 'working for the Mouse'. I am not here to bash or complain just give you MY point of view. I am a former Cast Member and yes its a job and I understand that you want EDE to be a place of escape for you from the real world, like you said its the CM's that make you forget the norm by making your vacation special. If you ever want to be in any type of Hospitality, such as Theme Parks, you have to be a type of person that gets gratification and happiness from seeing others happy and satisfied! I only spent 1 year at Disney, but it was the best year of my life! I'm being totally serious! When I moved back home, applied for jobs, I actually had to turn jobs down for at least once in my life!! I believe it was because they saw I had worked for the best in the business! Disney is a boost to your employment histroy no matter how small your role had been! And because of the roles I had played, I have a love for the Disney Philosophy as you said about "If you can dream it, you can do it" but in the way Uncle Walt thought of it! I truly love the belief of pursuing your dreams and working hard to make them happen or at least a part of them happen. My dream for the past 13 years was to go to WDW one more time before health issues and age takes over, every year something would happen causing us not to be able to go. Sometimes you have to take the situation in your own hands and make it happen, and thats what I did...I got a $2,000.00 loan jst so I could go to WDW one more time, and if I can go again in a few years, I will!

In effect, based off these facts, wishing on anything is DREAMING... this follows your statement The theme of what Disney represents is: "If we can dream it, then we can do it." Meaning, if you have a dream, yes you can achieve it if you work for it. You're not promised that dream come true, but you can if you are willing to work hard enough. That was Walt's legacy So wether you wish it on a star or wish it in your heart a wishis a dream and a dream is Disney Magic! I'm calling Disney heirarchy on this one and saying Cinderella trumps Frog Princesses in smoothly executed paper covers rock move!

Why not a top-10 list? Here's one consisting of things at WDW that most people seem to love, that I personally have no desire for. Ranging from rides, events, principles...just anything related to WDW. These are the ones that always leave me scratching my head wondering how they became so dang popular. (And no, this is not a doom & gloom type of thread. I love WDW by all means, and will probably continue to love the place until the day I die....well, except for these things

Starting with #10 and moving our way up to the most hated popular WDW thing.

10). Parades

Love the parades, fewer people lined up for the attractions.

9). DVC

We own two timeshares and points. Love 'em. I can't speak for DVC but once we learned some of the fine points of using our weeks and points we have as much as a month of vacation time any time in the calander year that we wish.

8). Dole Whip
Dole Whip is a very refreshing treat. Nothing more, nothing less.

7). Toy Story Midway Mania
I will continue to do the ride until I beat my wife and my grandsons.

6). Pay-Extra After Hours Events
Never been to either. We have Annual Passes, if that's not good enough so be it.

5). High School Musical
That would be a yuck from me.

4). Interactive Games
Never done these.

3). Duffy The Disney Bear
Cute, that's all

2). When You Wish Upon A Star
Classic Disney, what's not to love?

I'm retired, why would I want to work for a place I can well afford to visit whenever I want?

parades: I don't mind them if I happen to be around but I don't get how people willingly stand there for such long periods of time just to get a spot. but if that's what you wanna do then by all means, do it.

dvc: no opinion really

dole whips: I have yet to try one

toy story mania: I absolutely love this one! I absolutely hate the long lines though. I personally think it's tons of fun even though it's nothing crazy... I'm easily entertained. or maybe I'm just not as sophisticated as some of you who think this is just simply not good enough for your enjoyment

ticketed events: I'd love to go to at least one of them but definitely in no rush considering the cost

HSM: ahh high school musical. completely awful but in the even that there is nothing on tv except that, I will not pass up the opportunity to look at zac efron.

interactive games: don't get it

duffy: cute bear but it's just a bear. I don't get why he's so popular.

when you wish upon a star: love this song and anyone that really takes it seriously is kinda stupid or a kid. I fully understand that I cannot just make a wish and expect it to come true while I just sit here and do nothing to make it come true.

working for the mouse: I like the fact that depending on your job you get to make the guests happy or at least try to anyway haha

7. PEOPLE WATCHING
Why do people even do this????? There are much better ways to relax.

6. PARADES
I cannot believe how early some people line up for them. Most are not even worth it. Just makes me have to take a detour to get around the parks.

5. OHANA
One of the quickest to fill up its ADR's. It's really nothing special...

4. STAR WARS WEEKENDS
Never a huge Star Wars fan.

3. PETER PAN'S FLIGHT
Such a lame ride, what's the big hype!?!?!? Definitely not worth the line people wait in or wasting a FP on.

2. TIKI ROOM
Hate the "original" version...boooring.

1. WISHES
The fireworks are not bad but I absolutely can't stand the actual song.

When you wish upon a star..Love this...just go back and watch on youtube the grand opening of Disney World...Julie Andrews singing said song..quintessential. Disney IMO

The music of the song is beautiful & timeless for sure. And anything Ms. Andrews does turns to gold because, well, she's Julie Andrews and she's incredible. I was just referring to the lyrics which many people take too literally.

Thats the way it used to be from 2008-2010. The last two years have been just as crowded or more so than a normal day in MK. I always attend in late Sept. Last year there were lines for all attractions right up until closing. Now I avoid the attractions and watch the shows.
