I officially give up. I didn't think 10 would be that hard, but when you combine past AND present, there were just always a few too many that I wasn't willing to drop.

Would you have kept the concept and updated the movies or did it have enough charm to continue running as is?

I thought the last change with Turner and Osborne was quite a big step back.
I think they could have updated it. The Alien scene I always thought was out of place and could have been updated to a more popular movie series or genre.

This is so hard, but if we're only counting rides:

10. Living with the Land 🪴
9. Peoplemover 💙
8. Cosmic Rewind ☄️
7. Test Track 1.0 🚗
6. Toy Story Mania 🕹️
5. Runaway Railway 🚂
4. Dinosaur 🦖
3. Flight of Passage 🌅
2. Big Thunder Mountain🤠
1. Space Mountain 🚀

*If all of the Rise of the Resistance effects worked consistently, I would probably put it at number 9 and Living with the Land would be bumped to honorable mention.

At least Alien kind of looked cool in a classic way. I'm not the biggest fan of the movies either, but it was a good part of the ride IMO. Tarzan was way worse and they did Fantasia no justice.

The removal of Test Track 1.0 was a travesty in many bad decisions for EPCOT.

They did Fantasia no justice because that scene was never supposed to be for Fantasia. It was meant to be the twister that brings Dorothy (and the riders) to OZ. I don’t remember the specifics of why it happened, I think MGM had an issue with how much time was spent on their property but I absolutely might be mistaken. Regardless they had built a circular room already with a funnel in the middle with a screen built into it and needed to put something there.

The simplest solution was to put a Disney property in it since they wouldn’t need to deal with rights issues and negotiate with anyone

Ah yes, I remember reading that.

Disney still had that "good enough" mindset at times in the past, but now it's the norm.

Highly disagree, it was completely out of date and had horrible ugly industrial aesthetics from the 90s that looked like Innoventions circa 94-99.
The concept was infinitely better; learning about how cars worked was on theme for EPCOT. That could have been updated with newer models and features over time. The fact it was out of date was Disney's fault, as usual.

The theme now forces you to take all this time designing a car but the on ride execution is terrible, making it a pointless exercise that doesn't change the ride experience versus literally doing nothing. I can't remember the last time I could see the car I built on screen during the ride. They basically turned off the lights and added a Tron vibe. It's terrible.

No, designing a concept vehicle and learning from actual car designers how it works was the superior experience. The aesthetic of a 90s mechanic shop was ugly.

I agree in theory, but the problem with Test Track 2.0 is that that stuff was mainly limited to the queue.

The actual ride experience (theming etc.) made more sense and had significantly better execution in Test Track 1.0.

In its day I enjoyed TT 1.0 a lot. It wasn’t until about 2008 I started noticing how dated it felt. The narration and the temperature rooms i will give you. The abs test was just a warehouse with a few cones. The darkness of 2.0 and cutting the rooms so you can’t see the track and whole first test added to make it more intimate and also the illusion that you were going to go straight with the yellow outline and then surprising you by skidding off worked better than seeing the clear zig zagged track right infront of you.

Completely disagree. You must think the queue is the ride because nearly everything you're talking about is pre-ride. Most of what exists on ride has almost no connection to what you did in the queue. It also is repetitive and boring after designing 1-2 cars.

I'm talking about the original concept which was correct for EPCOT's theme. Rides always need updates over time, but the 2.0 didn't do anything for the actual ride experience besides make it worse.

No i completely disagree, see my post above. The horrible warehouse aesthetics were completely covered, the track wasn’t completely visible the whole time, the future city, better use of the plain cardboard trees, etc.

As do I, see my post. I've ridden both so many times, I can't count. Test Track 2.0 is horrible.

I get it, you don't like the warehouse. Test Track 1.0 made sense and was purpose built. You can tell 2.0 was a lame attempt to update on it on budget.
