Too old for character dining?

My DD12's birthday is coming up and she wanted to do something special. We planned a mini-Disney trip and were looking for restaurants to book. We came across Crystal Palace. Since she loves Pooh she really liked the idea but was afraid that she's too old. She's scared she'll look silly at a character meal and people will think she's weird. I personally think you can never be too old for one, but I was just wondering everyone's opinions on this.

Awww well speaking from personal experience, I have always loved going to character meals at any age, especially because by a certain age you feel too old scoping them out and waiting in line for them. At the meal they come to you.
Also, you'll be in Disney!! She most likely wont care and will love it-shell be like everyone else there.

Whatever you decide, enjoy and have a great trip!

I agree with everyone else, you are never too old for a character meal. Before my DW and I had kids we always ate at character meals.

My DH and I did character meals before kids and we didn't feel strange at all! The characters do such a great job of interacting with all the different ages. She'll have a great time!

Trust me I'm alot older than your daughter and I "let" my kids think Crystal Palace was booked for them.

Thank you guys for your wonderful responses!! I read them to her and she already feels a lot better :) she has almost completely shed the "im too old" mentality and loves seeing favorite characters. However, she was concerned about CP as we haven't done a character meal in a very very long time. But after reading your responses, she is confident and super excited!! :)

Crystal Palace is our very favorite place to eat in Disney. We usually do the breakfast now. I took my 17 year-old daughter and her 18 year-old friend to Disney for the friend's graduation in June. They both had pictures taken with all the characters. They actually came around twice while we were there. Tigger is a riot. He, well I assume it was a he, kissed both their hands and hugged them. The Piglet character was so sweet and timid acting just like the animated character. All the characters act like they are happy to be there and happy to see you. They do have the advantage of being in a beautiful room with air or heat. We've always had superb cm's.
We just love sitting and looking out at the castle while we eat. We have gone so many times now that TS isn't a huge deal for us except for CP. I've never been there that there weren't people of all ages there without children, ie older teens, young adults, seniors, and every age in between. The characters go to every table no matter the age. She will not be out of place at all. She will be one of many her age.

Totally go. Nobody will even be looking at her. I don't think you're ever to old or too cool to be with a Disney character.

I went to Disney in my early twenties with a few friends and we ate at character meals, waited in line to see characters and took giddy pics! Enjoy!! ;)

Like everyone else says you are never to old for character meals. It is just me and my mom and we always do the Cape May Cafe character breakfast. We love it. Goofy is the best!

My teens were 14 and 16 on our last trip and I let them pick the restaurants. They picked Crystal Palace (dd likes Piglet, and All You Can Eat is a hit for ds) and (of all places!) Akershus! The cold bar (all you can eat shrimp) and meatballs were a draw here. When the characters came around, both kids were fine with standing up for a quick photo. It was fun!!

Don't worry about being "too old" for a character meal. In a few years, I'll likely be visiting WDW without the kids, and I'll still do a character meal now and then. You're never too old for Mickey! :)

My kids, 15 and 17 on our next trip, are already thinking about adding Crystal Palace to the ADR list again!

Oh my, too old and Disney don't belong in the same sentence!!! LOL tell your DD, to look around when at Crystal Palace, and how most of those dining are mostly over 30!! I think most of us here still get teary eyed when we first see the castle, or see Mickey Mouse. I think once you pass those wonderful arches... it should say "Please check your age at this sign, pick it up on your way out" :)
