Isn't that what they're doing at WDW without HP, without Avatar land, without a third evening EMH, without printed napkins. Hum. Is there a pattern here? Universal fans get more and the company has record profits. WDW fans get less and the company has record profits.

Gotta love the price hikes and all the cutbacks at WDW to help reach those numbers.

There's a right way and a wrong way to do it. Universal is doing it the right way...Disney... :/

"Will to much Potter be bad?", without a doubt yes, will Universal reach the point of "to much" with the WWoHP expansion, I would say no. The first phase was so successful and Harry Potter still has enough social relevance that I think the expansion with be a sure fire hit, and putting in Universal instead of IOA is a very shrewd business move. The first phase has done a lot of good for Universal, not only in the money made directly from it, but from that fact that it drew people to Universal who have never been there and a lot of these people will become repeat customers. I think they could close Phase 1 tomorrow and it would have more then paid for itself.

The amount of Potter than will be in the parks I think would be fine and not too much... Many people can't get enough Potter.. But, after this expansion, what else could they possibly do??? They have done the main areas people want to visit from the Potter universe... So, I think they covered it all... I guess there is the Dark or Forbidden Forest, but what could they possibly do for it that would be entertaining for guests???

I strongly dislike HP so yes, its already too much for me. I can appreciate a well-themed land with an excellent new ride... but the fact that its HP takes away some for me. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I'm so tired of hearing about HP. Its been everywhere since 2004 o_O Enough already IMO

Since all Potter related attractions and environments will be thematically connected to each other, it will work perfectly. You run into trouble if you start doing what Disney currently does with its Pixar properties and haphazardly placing a few Toy Story attractions in one park and another in another park and a Nemo ride here and a Nemo show there. This will be an amazing experience that happens to span two parks. And with Transformers and an expanded Springfield area on the horizon, it's clear that Uni realizes other investments will be beneficial as well. If they were ONLY building Potter that would be enough but the fact that they are investing in other areas of the resort speaks volumes.

Thank you for your honest opinion. IMHO, HP is an amazing franchise (so wish WDW had it) but I definitely can see how it could be disliked. It's sort of like getting a food shoved down my throat. Everyone else might think it's to die for but I might simply think it's nasty tasting.

I am indifferent on the Potter franchise and anything after this expansion would be excessive in my opinion. I do enjoy the quality work that went into creating the current version of the land, and can't wait to see what they have in store for the new expansion. It's great to see Universal is finally doing so well financially and reinvesting the money into many new experiences. Keep it up Universal!

If I'm not mistaken Marni wasn't it just after Q4 started??? I mean it literally paid for itself in nearly one fiscal quarter folks!

That is not possible with the numbers they released.

Wwhp supposed cost more than 200 million. To pay for that means an extra 200 million in profits.

Their q3 profits jumped approx 60 million. Their q4 profits were up approx 85 million yty. So even if you attested all new profits to hp, they didn't increase profits enough to pay for it. Their 2010 number total profit for the year was 279 million compared to 155 million the year prior. So even if you attested all new profit to hp for the entire year- it still had not collected enough to pay for itself

Now this isn't entirely accurate as the revenue streams brought in by hp may be higher margin than the rest of the property and profits from hp are 'lost' against other expenses in the total profit numbers. But if you look at increased revenue the q3 increase was approx 140 million in revenues and 162 million in q4

So there was a boost of just over 302 million in revenue over the first two quarters of hp.

Maybe they can get 66% margin on some goods so the 6month number isn't completely irrational but they can't take 140 million in revenue and turn that into 200 million in profit :)

Are you referring to USO lands? If so, Jurassic Park for sure! Maybe that's why HP left a sore spot since it supposedly took over JP's expansion land. But yeah, just in general, never was a fan of HP.
In IOA... JP is pretty cool, wish more was done with it... And they still might... JP still has an expansion pad...

Heading for the great escape.
Cant stand Potter but think the area and attractions are fantastic. It will only be too much if the additions are done badly.

Sounds like fan boy sour grapes.
