Tomorrowland Overhaul Speculation

The hub side!? I remember reading this but would this be some gigantic piece of exposed track or some small piece of track that goes quickly out of a building and into another one?

Seeing the neglect Astro Blasters, Autopia, and the Subs have seen, I think we can assume TRON would be plopped on top of those. If that's the plan, it would look something like... this. No thanks!

Unless it went back and took over Innoventions and Buzz. That would work better I guess but still confusing.

This is more likely the plan, thinking about it (or something along the lines). I don't hate it but I don't like it. The TRON coaster is just too big for Disneyland. It'd dwarf the icon of the park, ruin the forced perspective of the Matterhorn, take away from Space Mountain's glory, the screams will be heard down Main Street USA. I take it back, I do hate it. This is awful.

Oh man these pictures of TRON just plopped into current TL are killing me. But let’s try to be positive for a second. They obviously have to consider the surrounding area right!? They re not just going to take a Shanghai sized TRON/ canopy and put it in the hub next to the Matterhorn. Right!?!?

They are.

This is the equivalent of putting DHS' Tower of Terror a couple hundred feet from Cinderella Castle.

While I think Tron is coming, I really don’t see an exact clone coming to our Tomorrowland for the reasons that have already been stated.

Even though Chapek is in charge, I can’t see TDA and even Imagineering not putting up a few ground rules for their redo in regards to scale and ambition. Their quality driven persistence, while not fully materialized all the time, is what eventually led to the downfall of OneDisney during the design of GE iirc. This is too much space to simply waste and underutilize even further than it currently is, and I’m sure most of those involved also realize this.

yea... you guys go on ahead and do that...

then they'll replace it with this

That's not a "Jet Pack" ride. That's a "Flying Egg Ride For Communist Party Members Desperate For Entertainment".

And it sits on the ground and does that? No wonder I've never wanted to go to Shanghai Disneyland. What with the Godless Communism and the Two Million citizens kept in re-education camps and police beating up college kids in Hong Kong and all, this Flying Egg ride isn't pushing me over the edge.

I'll keep my Asian itineraries to Japan, thanks.

Different Imagineers working on different projects. Besides, Galaxy’s Edge was before Chapek. I imagine he doesn’t care about show. Heck, I don’t have to imagine it, I know he doesn’t care about show. Just look at DCA.

The one thing people have to remember is what they did for RotR at DL, they went underground almost 2 stories. The same will likely be done for Tron if it does indeed come to TL at DL. Which means any exposed track out in the land would also be lowered as well. Basically think of it as replacing the Peoplemover track inside the land.

I think a lot of DL fans are underestimating the huge effect that the reception of Galaxys Edge in Anaheim is going to have on the future of the resort. Hollywood Studios is about to open to massive crowds. Don’t believe me, the reservations for Savis workshop opened up yesterday and in 1 day there are no reservations available until October. I’m going September 23rd with my wife and kids and virtually everything is booked up from the Cantina to Savis and Droid Depot. The comparison between the 2 openings is going to place DLR and it’s fanbase and it’s ability to pull big spending tourists in a very very bad light to Disney Execs. I see massive purse strings being tightened out west and major additions shelved. As well as maintenance deteriorating.
I’m sorry but a large part of the local fanbase either ***** and moan 24 hours a day about EVERYTHING, or they show up to the parks, looking and behaving like misfits/animals/white trash. I used to feel that DL had the higher class customers but man has that ever changed!!!
I think lean times are coming for Anaheim.
Either that, or they will finally say screw it to catering to and being fearful of the DL loyalists who want the park to be a museum and keep TDA from making the decisions to turn DLR into a true destination like Vegas or WDW or.........
Yes I’m looking at you puny castle that almost looks ridiculously little when walking down main street and is always the NUMBER 1 thing people who have visited other Disney destinations and then go to DL remember and talk about.
And no loyalists, they don’t go on and on about Pirates being 8 minutes longer and the cozy square in the back of New Orleans. FWIW, I love both of those aspects of DL. Just venting some frustration here over the **** poor reception of GE in Anaheim and ridiculous armchair imagineer “geniuses” who hate everything going on but are on Disney park fansites virtually 24 hours a day.

Ok there!!
Now be gentle with the returning onslaught please!
Believe it or not I hate confrontation but I guess I deserve what’s coming!!
I just want to see DLR do well and grow and have exciting expansions and I’m frustrated with how hard it is out west.
I think the company knows DL’s attendance numbers are not because of the quality of the guests. They’re because DL’s blackout dates and attendance rules kept people from coming.

So why are they considering a thrill ride then it adding back some of the stuff they cut?

Tron is on two levels in Shanghai. You enter the ride from the 2nd story. The queue winds down to the the ride on the ground level. Even if they made the ground level of the ride underground in DL, I don't see it meshing well with its surroundings without severe alterations. Shanghai DL is built on a very large scale and the only structure that stands out more than Tron and that canopy is the castle. I would hope that if it comes to DL they make a lot of changes.

The only real draw of the ride itself is the ride vehicle. At its core, it is a very average coaster. They could be a lot more inventive if given the opportunity.
