Tomorrowland Overhaul Speculation

It's strange how we all moan about Tron being added to Tomorrowland. This is an homegrown IP from an actual real Disney production. It's not an acquisition. It also fits in Tomorrowland. On that note, I would love to see a Black Hole overlay for Space Mountain.
There are plenty of homegrown Disney IP that wouldn't and shouldn't fit in with the parks.

My personal complaint isn't the IP, but the quality of the ride. I don't think the TRON ride is good and belongs in Disneyland USA, especially in the proposed location. I'd love a good TRON attraction, though. I'd also love a good Guardians of the Galaxy attraction in Tomorrowland, honestly. IP's really aren't something I tend to complain about.

You want a big rollercoaster, taller than the castle, zooming by the Partners Statue?

. Tron will be on the perimeter of Tomorrowland. You won’t notice it at the partner statue. You made a diagram that’s completely off.

He's just responding to the rumor Fab posted back in June about the Tron track swooping by Tomorrowland's entrance (about where the Rocket Rods track currently crosses from Buzz to Star Tours). The diagram ain't that far off, based on that rumor.

Once Innoventions building is gone, the track can easily go towards Autopia. You can even see it from the hub. Look at how they did the Magic Kingdom.

I get that what you're describing is a possibility, but it isn't what was reported by Fab. (I admit, while she definitely has a long history of good connections in the company, she doesn't have the best track record.)

But the placement of this coaster is unusual in that instead of perching on the outside edge of the land – and the park – they’re taking a page from the park down the street. Knott’s Berry Farm’s Silver Bullet Coaster (great coaster, one of my favorites. Worth the trip alone.) and putting one of TRON’S showiest loops on the hub side of Tomorrowland, drawing people in toward wherever that cool-looking thing above pedestrians’ heads starts.
According to the rumor, the track will be close to the hub and go over the heads of guests. You interpret this as in the back of Tomorrowland?

They can’t be that stupid right? Why can’t they rebuild some new people mover tracks that are compliant and have it be a ride that zips through TL with the a spiraling finale in the innoventions building or a new building in the same location? I’ll take a little less thrill for it to be harmonious with the park.

A Tron coaster absolutely should not come to Disneyland. We already have the best 'dark coaster' ever done- and I'm not sure I want Disney to make Space Mountain irrelevant inside Disneyland.

Instead, they need something that complements Space Mountain inside Tomorrowland.

In the past, we went to inner space- via Adventure Thru Inner Space, liquid space- via the subs, and outer space- via Mission To Mars (in it's various incarnations) and Space Mountain and Star Tours).

In this new digital era, Tron is a natural fit for Tomorrowland in the sense that we can go into digital space. Instead of building a Tron coaster, they need to develop a state of the art Tron dark ride that utilizes the latest technologies to create an experience that is reminiscent of classic Disneyland. A sort of "enter the grid" type scientific premise that treats you as a test subject entering the grid, then things go wrong in classic Disney style.

My ideal Tomorrowland overhaul?

Bring back a modern version of Inner Space using the latest tech, perhaps theming it around the Ant Man quantum realm to help get it approved.

Bring back a form of mass transit like the peoplemover.

Update the subs, but don't remove them.

Shorten the Autopia and get a proper sponsor like Tesla to give it the necessary "future" infusion.

Demo the carousel theater and put in the Tron dark ride.

Don't touch Space Mountain.

Add a smaller attraction where Pizza Planet is, and transition the restaurant to be where the Magic Eye theater is instead.

Put a new Rocket Jets in their proper location.

Honestly, a Tomorrowland redo isn't rocket science (heh), and I really hope WDI doesn't make it some overcomplicated, uncharming, convoluted mess like they do each of their other new projects.

Tron is on two levels in Shanghai. You enter the ride from the 2nd story. The queue winds down to the the ride on the ground level. Even if they made the ground level of the ride underground in DL, I don't see it meshing well with its surroundings without severe alterations. Shanghai DL is built on a very large scale and the only structure that stands out more than Tron and that canopy is the castle. I would hope that if it comes to DL they make a lot of changes.

The only real draw of the ride itself is the ride vehicle. At its core, it is a very average coaster. They could be a lot more inventive if given the opportunity.
Space Mountain is below ground and works just fine, if it was above ground completely it would tower over everything in the resort. So I don't know why you wouldn't think Tron going below ground wouldn't work fine either. I have stated that I see alternations coming to Tron since the rumor first surfaced, but everyone told me it wouldn't happen because it would cost too much. And my response is BS. If it comes it'll be altered to mesh in with the rest of TL.

Have you seen Tron in Person? The canopy itself doesn't fit the scale of Disneyland and that is all needs to be above ground.

And all I said was it would need to be altered to fit with DL's TL and it appears we are in agreement with that.
