It would be a huge shame if they got rid of the lagoon. And despite its terrible upkeep, the subs are still a one of a kind E ticket. It’s a very underrated attraction. I think an Avatar overlay could save it for another 20 years. Don’t overthink this Tomorrowland thing, Disney! Overlay Buzz with Tron, convert Pizza Port into a space themed table service, and move the Rocket Jets back into the land and you’ve got a New Tomorrowland for under 100 million. Maybe get Elon Musk and his girlfriend to sponsor a new Autopia and Innoventions featuring Captain Eo 2 staring Grimes.

...Besides, Matterhorn would topple over if they got rid of the lagoon. Duh.

The problem with the subs is that it is a slow loader. That's it. As an attraction and a theming environment, it is Disneyland par excellence. And the reason it is a slow loader is because they have three loading docks that are in series with each other. One sub gets bogged down and it backs up the whole ride.

The simple solution is to reconfigure the docks so that three subs can load in parallel, and if one is being held up another one can go, freeing up a loading dock for a sub exiting the show (this solves the interminable waits you now get because of the aforementioned dock sequencing). I feel like there's plenty of room in that area. They won't have to redesign the show at all. The engineering for a track switching mechanism can't be that difficult. With a simple construction and engineering budget, they could easily double the capacity for that ride, adding a C-ticket's worth of capacity to Disneyland without going through the rigoramole of a whole new project or eating up any additional acreage.

In any event, an India park is probably at least fifteen years away, by which point India may be a very different place. India is the future. Not for nothing are Amazon and Walmart expanding rapidly there, and going to war for control of the place. It's the last great frontier. Makes sense that Disney would try to open it up along with all the other American corporations.

I actually think Africa is the last great frontier.

But if you are a white guy in America who occasionally flies Emirates Business Class to some brand new First World city like Mumbai or Dubai or Shanghai (what's with the all the "ais"?), then sure "India is the last great frontier". But it's actually not. That's the continent of Africa, which will truly be the real story of the mid 21st century.

In the meantime, we'll just wait for Bob Chapek to announce Mumbai Disneyland this Sunday or at D23 Expo 2021, and then wait another year or two for him to cut out all the entertainment and interactive stuff like he did to Star Wars. As if that wasn't enough, there's a new employee documentary coming to Disney+!

People who say India’s not a dump don’t care about the lives of average Indian citizens. Though I suppose loving the big, rich cities where they can live in luxury and disregarding the hard working man and the poor is typical of these type of people no matter the country in discussion.

Anyway, when even is the Parks & Resorts panel? Or the movie panel?

Welp, lack of any Tomorrowland model at D23 means we’re relegated back to maybe some fuzzy nighttime concept art shown on screen during the Sunday panel IF anything is announced at all.

If so, it seems that it will be taking the position that Epcot did at the last expo, and Star Wars did before that: It’s the “Yes, we’re working on it but come back in two more years for anything concrete” position.

Did "we" expect anything different? I had thought it was always assumed that any TL announcement would be fairly vague with some basic concept art with not much details.

Basically a bullet point during the presentation with a completion of 2022-2023 (making 2021 D23 where we get details).

Some folks did - some even thought that the 'secret project' was a new TL, which was silly. For the longest time, I was pretty sure that we'd get zip about TL. But with the rocks departing, eh, something seemed afoot.

So pegging a 2021 D23 with completion around 2023-2025 seems about right.
