Tomorrowland Overhaul Speculation

The thing with Disney resorts I’ve noticed is a new one comes every decade. 70s- WDW, 80s- Tokyo, 90s- Paris, 2000s- Hong Kong, 10s- Shanghai. Ngl I kinda like this tradition. It would be on par with Shanghai, which if I’m not mistaken (probably am tho) was announced in 2009.

Bye Bye lagoon and Autopia. Tomorrow land needs a shake up. i fully welcome Tron whether it be a Tron coaster as in the other parks or the Troncket Rods discussed here. I am not crazy about them adding a loop in space mountain. that is not needed. i am good with them doing a remodel of it and making it bigger but a loop is not necessary.

I entirely agree. The Theater and former Space Stage must go. It's wasted space, which is especially acute when the Space Mountain exit is congested with guests using the restrooms and people trying to buy their flash photos. Turn the theater into photo and retail space. Allow a new detour further away from the restrooms. The queue line needs to be re-routed into an indoor space. It just gets too hot out there. Enclose everything.

what they really should do is turn the theater into a semi open air eatery. remove the barriers they added along the exit walkway.

They have a path which is used as an exit walkway for the theater and a path for open traffic of people exiting space and restrooms. those two paths run next to each other divided by two planters and walls.

removing that barrier would widen the walkway along with the removal of the theater wall and side stage. This would widen that whole area quite a bit.
use part the stage area as food service with kitchen expanded into the small theater queue area at the back.

relocate Space mountain entrance to the starcade and add a ramp that circles internally into up to second floor or just add stairs.
once thats done tear out pizza port and everything behind it to open up that area. redevelop that whole area for a new dark ride.

Is this the Ugly American part of the thread? I think this is the Ugly American part of the thread.

As probably one of the only people here who has actually been to Mumbai: Yes, I think it could support one measly Disney park. Bollywood has a sizable amount of entertainment know-how, so the artistic potential is certainly there, and there's absolutely enough of the moneyed types who have high standards to expect a Disney park to thrive in that environment.

In any event, an India park is probably at least fifteen years away, by which point India may be a very different place. India is the future. Not for nothing are Amazon and Walmart expanding rapidly there, and going to war for control of the place. It's the last great frontier. Makes sense that Disney would try to open it up along with all the other American corporations.

Mumbai was lovely, by the way. A vibrant jumble of a city and I loved visiting there and everyone here should too.

I am glad you said this, always amazes me how the ugly american side pops up when talking about other countries and we ignore some of the issues we have here as well. growing homeless population, cities with no clean water, aging infrastructures and we forget that meanwhile even thrid world countries are now investing in new technology to better themselves

i have been to Mumbai as well and to most of India several times. it has become one of my favorite places to visit and i have traveled quite a bit around the world.
yes it has its issues but i agree that Mumbai is a vibrant Jumble mess but just like other countries India has some amazing cities.

Why? There’s enough room without getting rid of the lagoon? No loops in Space Mountain please. They are not thrilling and my least favorite part of coasters. lll take some bigger drops though. I like what Riddlers revenge does at MM (well at least back in the 90s when it was smooth and my favorite coaster....what are those called? inversions?

I know its not a popular opinion but its either time for 1 of 2 things: 1. Autopia gets replaced for a new attraction because it is very outdated and takes up way too much space or 2. Autopia get cut down considerably in space to make room for a new attraction and changes to electric cars. For all the talk of getting rid of plastic bags and straws from the park and stores the smog from autopia and fumes do more harm to the environment and the cast members who have to operate the attraction day and day out for hours at a time. I bet they have lung problems later in life. Its not fair every other year my car has to have an emissions test while autopia runs for years polluting the air. I think the lagoon is pretty and I love water at the park and I would miss it more than autopia but the writting is on the wall that it's days are numbered

I dont think space mountain even needs inversions. It works perfect as is but if they want to make it bigger with more drops and show scenes i am all for it but there is no reason to us to go upside down in that ride ever. I would miss the lagoon i like having bodies of water in the park but I think its days are numbered.

It would be a huge shame if they got rid of the lagoon. And despite its terrible upkeep, the subs are still a one of a kind E ticket. It’s a very underrated attraction. I think an Avatar overlay could save it for another 20 years. Don’t overthink this Tomorrowland thing, Disney! Overlay Buzz with Tron, convert Pizza Port into a space themed table service, and move the Rocket Jets back into the land and you’ve got a New Tomorrowland for under 100 million. Maybe get Elon Musk and his girlfriend to sponsor a new Autopia and Innoventions featuring Captain Eo 2 staring Grimes.

...Besides, Matterhorn would topple over if they got rid of the lagoon. Duh.

We ride everything at DLR and WDW except Matterhorn and Goofys Sky School.
My wife, 6 and 10 year old all refuse to ride those anymore.

When I was little and my parents complained about the Matterhorn being so rough I figured it was just cause they were old (good kid logic) but I'm only 20 and the ride already hurts to ride on so I definitely think something needs to be done sooner than later, I still ride the ride once per trip but I always regret it afterwards 🤣

It's funny you mention Elon! After the (debunked) rumors of Tesla updating Tomorrowland's Speedway, I honestly would love an Elon-Tomorrowland. A new Autopia sponsored by Tesla, yes, but also a new Hyperloop PeopleMover, a Journey to the Center of the Earth sponsored by the Boring Company, and pretty much anything sponsored by SpaceX.

I find myself getting more hurt on Splash Mountain these days. Make sure your lower back is against the seat especially when it’s going up that last lift hill.

I think the Matterhorn is only bad if you are in seat 6. Especially on the TL side. Otherwise I find it tolerable. Rough but doable.
