They're long gone....
How hard is it to remove tile and drywall? At that rate they would take a long time to remove it.

I know that journey into imagination with figment still has the imagination scanner. It's just turned off. Maybe stuff like that caused these rumors too. Most of these rumors probably stem from elements of Wonders of Life and Journey into Imagination being closed off but not removed. I remember hearing that animatronics from Nature's Wonderland were buried underneath Big Thunder Ranch. Not sure if it's true, but if it is I wonder if they found them when constructing Galaxy's Edge.
I wouldn't mind Autopia going *IF* a smaller version is added to Cars Land. Astro Orbiter needs to be relocated far, far away from the hub. Like, maybe on top of the old People Mover station where it belongs.Tomorrowland as a whole should be demolished and the project should have a re-do. The following attractions should be left out:
-Buzz
-Nemo
-Star Tours
Autopia and Astro Orbiter should be updated. Add some attractions that actually deal with the future, along with a decent food option.
Unfortunately, I don’t trust Disney in the slightest to actually fix Tomorrowland.
I really think they should just leave this the way it is. Perfect!I snapped this today. I've been assuming it's either primer or the start of the black space background of the old mural. Although Disney has made a few minor updates to Tomorrowland recently; the updated color scheme and new pavement for Buzz Lightyear, Autopia's color scheme change and slight addition of theming, the Space Mountain queue (which seems to be more coming from Disney's push to update queues and free up space before the opening of Star Wars Land). I still think it's just going to be a cleaner repaint of the mural like they recently did with the Laod Bhang mural in Frontierland. Walt Disney World is also currently going under a color scheme change for their Tomorrowland, although I believe that hints at an upcoming enhancing of Tomorrowland for the 50th.View attachment 304680
I may be in the minority, but I much prefer Buzz to Mania. Disneyland's anyways... Very mixed opinions on MK's version as the blasters are attached and almost impossible to aim at any targets, making the actual gameplay pretty terrible in comparison. I do like that it still has the bones of If You Had Wings and the old speed tunnel room!
I preferred Circlevision, but Buzz beats the heck out of "Queue for Rocket Rods."Not sure if I prefer it to TSM but would be pretty close. Have always enjoyed Buzz.
Legoland California just built a subs ride with real fish. It's short but very fun.
Technically Legoland's version is more advanced. It's really just Peter Pan Flight under water with real fish. You can even see the sub in front of you. Disney used the same track idea for TDS's 20K Under the Sea but in a dry for wet environment. Disneyland's subs are nothing more than a underwater bus kind of like a standard dark ride vehicle but underwater. This ride vehicle would be a lot easier for ADA requirements and add some motion base swinging to the sub.I guess I should clarify and say a sub ride with the ride system and vehicles in place at Disneyland's would never be used today. That Legoland version looks far less convincing- starting with the visible track in the load station and the much more artificial looking subs.
That has more to do with set dressing than ride system. The ride system for the LEGOland ride isn't too different than 20K Leagues at Tokyo DisneySEA.I guess I should clarify and say a sub ride with the ride system and vehicles in place at Disneyland's would never be used today. That Legoland version looks far less convincing- starting with the visible track in the load station and the much more artificial looking subs.

The replacement for the mary mural on buzz doesn't look too bad. It's certainly better than the one that replaced that at the very least.Don't know why I didn't catch this earlier, but that's the Star Tours tile mural being removed.
The one on what's now the Buzz Lightyear building existed all the way up until 1998.
It was replaced by this.
The Tomorrowland murals are a great reflection of how Disney has come to disregard themed entertainment. Mary Blair’s murals were images of optimism fitting for a real place, an expression of meaning. The replacements try to force significance by repeating other forms as though self reference will somehow create meaning and purpose.
I heard somewhere that the ‘67 murals still exist on the Buzz side with the wall with the new mural covering it. Is that true?Don't know why I didn't catch this earlier, but that's the Star Tours tile mural being removed.

Expecting giant billboards for "Mary Poppins Returns" and "Wreck-It-Ralph 2."
See that, that guy wasn't tied off.
