I would like to set this thread back on topic with my article on the history of Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland.

Creations feels like they took over a flagship GAP store, which makes sense when you consider the professional backgrounds of most of P&RDifferent eras, different ideas completely... Centorium was trying to play with the modern and add a lot of whimsy... Mouse Gear just played up the whimsical and cartoon, Creations strips away all of that and is just a shop...in the ikea sense.....
I like modern... I like a mix of natural and modern... But this tends to look like an airport duty-free shop more than I place I want to linger and purchase... Same thing with Connections...Looks like an airport food court...At least they have the big mural for color....
I was no fan of Electric (carpet on the walls) Umbrella... but there could have been something that felt more Disney but not crazy...More unique...
A good summation to what brings us to where we are now and thanks for bringing the thread back on topic. It feels like WDI cant seem to figure out what to do with Tomorrowland...Or is it just budget? We cannot know. Fact remains that someone has to head up the charge and give the land back a coherent design and theme... There is far too much dead space that California's version does not have.I would like to set this thread back on topic with my article on the history of Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland.

WALL-E seems like an easy one to slot in where Stitch was, and Elio feels like it could be an appropriate Monsters Inc. replacement, assuming it does well. I still think they should follow through on the electric lightcycle upgrade to the Speedway and bring a lot of the Shanghai elements that complement TRON to the main section of Tomorrowland. The Shanghai stage, for instance, looks about a billion times better than the one we have currently.A good summation to what brings us to where we are now and thanks for bringing the thread back on topic. MILF needs to be moved to Hollywood Studios to make room for something more appropriate to the theme of the land... The Alien Encounter building needs a new attraction....The land it self needs a new entrance...not the silver painted rocks...it needs it's WOW back.
I am sure a walk through the Imagineering Archives could inspire the newer generations of imagineers... The old guard had an amazing sense of drama and scale that is now missing...
The two are not mutually exclusive, and Tomorrowland definitely has the most space ready for immediate re-use and/or enhancement if they want to turn something around (relatively) more quickly than the expansion.I could be wrong but I think Tomorrowland is the last thing on their minds. Right now, for MK, it’s all about the “Beyond BTM” thing.
If you are pouring it out for Mouse Gear, then I hope its not expensive stuff you are drinking...
Tomorrowland needs a top-flight attraction to take over the region that houses MILF and SRS. The brain geniuses had no desire to place their AAA Sci-Fi IP of the century in the spaceport-themed land 7 years ago, so now we're here with about 2 or 3 competing aborted visions and the literally noxious Speedway as the topper.A good summation to what brings us to where we are now and thanks for bringing the thread back on topic. Yes, there’s little presently there that could be considered problematicI could be wrong but I think Tomorrowland is the last thing on their minds. Right now, for MK, it’s all about the “Beyond BTM” thing.
As to attractions legitimately targeted by the inclusion key, I thought Carousel of Progress was actually somewhat high on their list? As to things we can feign outrage about in an effort to force their hand, let’s tweet about the triggering smell of fossil fuels, an attraction abbreviated MILF, and an animatronic lately prone to public urination. #tomorrowbannedYes, there’s little presently there that could be considered problematic
Kind of snuck it in but yeah, if any IP can get the Tomorowland overhaul going it's Pixar's Elio. Liked the teaser trailer. I'd say Wall-E-fy the PeopleMover (like the one that appears in the AXIOM) and then Elio IP for Monsters Inc building and a Dr. Who show for Stitch building. Ideally, there should be an attraction that bridges the lands of Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. I don't think Elio will work for that purpose but it'd be nice if they could eventually find a way to better develop that area even if it means sacrificing the Speedway if they refuse to give us the Lightcycle treatment.WALL-E seems like an easy one to slot in where Stitch was, and Elio feels like it could be an appropriate Monsters Inc. replacement, assuming it does well. Most of the other attractions, restaurants, shops, and areas just need an appropriate amount of TLC. Like, why not replace the PeopleMover vignettes with Space 220-esque windows that give you "views" of vast Tomorrowland cityscapes and add some minor projection mapping in a few places? And as you said, the entrance needs to be something really visually arresting.
Here's hoping it's successful, then.Kind of snuck it in but yeah, if any IP can get the Tomorowland overhaul going it's Pixar's Elio.
Sounds like 2015 EPCOT, and we now know how that's turning out.Well in 2024 it will be 30 years since Tomorrowland had an actual complete renovation....and I would say it is now time... Bring it back to it's mid-century modern outer-space aesthetic...
The bones are there...They need two great new attractions and a lot of land enhancement including an all new entrance to the land... Something over the top and amazing... We don't really need to go Beyond Thunder Mountain if they would just refresh and update the spaces they have first... There is space for 4 attractions in Tomorrowland SGS, MILF, the Speedway, and the old Galaxy Theater. The circus tent area needs to go and be expanded into another headline attraction for Fantasyland ( Neverland and an expanded Peter Pan anyone?)... Which would then open up the Peter Pan building for another new (Tangled) dark ride to match the restrooms across the esplanade... After Tomorrowland is completely viable again and Fantasyland is sorted out, then it is time to talk about Beyond Thunder Mountain... Not while major parts of the park are in decay or unused....
Yes, I'm honestly surprised they haven't done more with Stitch as I have had the exact same experience and assume they make a mint off Stitch merchandise at the parks. He seems to be the first standalone character they've come up with to compete with the Fab Five. Then again, I guess Mickey only just got a ride.Honestly, they should put Stitch somewhere- I am constantly shocked at the amount of Stitch merchandise I randomly see people wearing, honestly more than any other animated character excepting Mickey and Minnie. The character has clear stating power and should be represented in the park somehow.
