Tomorrow Land vs. Future World

Okay, I'm trying to figure out EXACTLY why there are two sections of park in WDW dedicated to the future. If my understanding is correct, Tomorrow Land is more of a science fiction portrayal of the future, while Future World is supposed to be a more authentic look of what we can look forward to. Is this right, or did Disney just decide to make two similar parks?

TL really has no theme currently, there's still SM, TTA and COP but the rest is new characters quickly and cheaply slapped into attractions, Buzz and SGE. Also I fail to see how the laugh floor fits into TL, monsters makes it futureistic???

FW is closer to it's original idea than TL but is quickly straying from it. By this I mean putting nemo in the seas, TT had nothing to do with the future what so ever, UOE is 15 to 20 years in the past. With that said as much ad I miss Horizons MS is at least futuristic, SSE is still ok.

So in my opinion these two areas need the most work in all of WDW.

I wouldn't call Buzz or Laugh Floor "cheap." Slapped in, maybe but not "cheap!" Anyway, even with those I still think Tomorrowland maintains a sci-fi theme

Because one was designed in 1969 to be part of a theme park, and the other as part of another park a decade later with a serious look at mankinds history and future.

Simple as that.

Adventureland, Animal Kingdom? There is too much land for each bit to have a sole monopoly on a theme.

Besides the future in Future World is just as debatable as the tomorrow in Tomorrowland.

Ok, every time TL is brought up, people say how Monsters Inc. Doesn't belong, well it does make sense, if you know the back story.

Tomorrowland is a meeting place for members of all the galaxies, the alien world, human world, and other worlds (even the monster world). It is a futuristic "space port". Monsters inc is held in the Tomorrowland Interplanetary Convention Center, which Monsters Inc. has rented out to hold their new Comedy Club. Because they need laughter from humans, it was held at a meeting point for the universes. You enter the lobby (themed to Tomorrowland), and enter the portal into the monster world to get into the comedy club. At the end of the show, you walk through another portal returning you to Tomorrowland. Monsters Inc. only rented out a small part of the convention center, enough to hold the first line, and the portal, beyond that, you have left Tomorrowland. It makes sense for an act like this to be held in a convention center, as events of all types are held at convention centers. America the Beautiful (and the other 360 films) didn't have anything to do with TL, but it still fit, and nobody complains, and the Timekeeper was also at the Convention Center.

Rant over. And to those who say it doesn't "fit" even after reading the story, there are other Disney attractions that REALLY don't fit if you know the story, but people like those rides, and therefore don't question them. Just because you don't like Laugh Floor doesn't mean it's misplaced thematically.

Agreed...unfortunately.

TK was the only show related to TL that ever inhabited the Convention Center space. America the Beautiful sure didn't. With TK, the storyline was about a futuristic machine (Time Machine), none of the other shows had a main plot with direct relations to TL, only the back stories related (like Laugh Floor).

I beg to differ, It is the same omnimover track and route since the MK opened. They did not change it when Dreamflight turned into Buzz. They simply added Buzz senery. It may have not been cheap but it seems like it was to me. I wish they would do away with it TSMM makes it look so dated.

But TSMM and Buzz were done in different artistic styles, TSMM is supposed to look newer. Buzz should look like a 90s video game, where TSMM should not.

The convention Center is/was across the street where Stitch now unfortunately holds residence...

And if you compare it to another, similar ride done shortly after, MIB at Universal, there's no comparison at all, MIB is a 100% better ride.

Having said that, if they could only upgrade MK's Buzz to the quality of the ones at the other Disneyland parks it would be much nicer.

Back in the day the actual CV360 format was futuristic.
