Tom Staggs at WDW

I don't know of anything extravagantly exciting, but we can thank him for better food at some of the quick service locations and at the Art of Animation, and for the general refurbishing that has MAGICally been in progress at WDW for the last two years. His visits seems to mostly be along the lines of saying, "Why isn't this the way it's supposed to be" rather than, "Why have you people been reluctant to make WDW the beacon of creativity and innovation that it once was?" But even the first question is better than just nodding and walking along, as Rasulo used to do.

Now if Staggs would only kill NexGen Fastpasses and force a DHS makeover and new E-tickets at the MK and Epcot, fans would be demanding a large window for him on Main Street. ;)

Why do you want NextGen Fastpasses killed?

Unless I missed something, we have not even seen yet how these will be handled and what they will involve. What have you heard about them that makes you want to see them killed?

Not hiding any scoop. That would require me being an insider.;)

Spirit and others have hinted that whenever Iger leaves a lot of TDO will be leaving with him. Iger is supposed to be gone by 2015. However, if he truly does have political ambitions, and depending on what he wants to run for, he may be gone even sooner by 2014.

I knew that Iger wants to run for Governor of New York. The next election there is in 2014. If he wants to run for New York's Senate seat, he would have chances in either 2016 or 2018 to run for those seats.

The other big New York race is for NYC Mayor, which I believe is next held in 2014.

So that would mean that if he's leaving in 2015 that he has his sights set on the US Senate representing New York as the other important races would be held before he'd leave Disney.

I didn't say I want it killed. I simply listed common online desires. You can do a search to see why many people who frequently visit the parks don't want the XPass.

Interesting to hear this. I respect your knowledge and opinion on the boards, but does it really take a genius to see that 40 year old buildings in a Florida swamp need refurbishment? Or that quick service locations could use an improvement?

I agree, it's certainly better than Rasulo, who almost had an outright disdain for the parks and their costumers, but its definitely not real leadership or vision from the VP of Parks & Resorts, who runs the entire division and has the ability to make real changes.

He is visiting the Norway pavilion and Ellen's energy adventure. Not sure what else

Oohhh, maybe Maelstrom's going to be plussed? Really, for a relatively simple ride, it's really awesome. It really pulls you into another world. The first time I rode it, I got chills. I never miss it when I visit WDW.

I'm not especially politically-minded. But I do know that NOTHING would motivate me to be Governor of New York if that meant I'd have to work with Mayor Bloomberg. The dude wants to outlaw Big Gulps and thinks it's within the province of his office to urge mothers to breast feed. Talk about a nanny state... :p

With the right people, you could respond to both of those questions with the same answer.

Every indication has been that Fastpass+ will allow guests to reserve attractions days, weeks or months in advance. Many people (myself included) view this as a huge problem. Additionally, to make it work, the expectation is that every guest will get a set number of Fastpass+ reservations and to account for this, Fastpass availability is going to be expanded to attractions that don't need it on a regular basis. Everything we've seen up to this point has indicated that it's a way of creating false value and destroying any spontaneity left in a Disney vacation with little real benefit to the guests.

Yeah I kinda like the idea of not having to walk to the other end of a park to get a FP for that side, but I don't like having to pick which park we are going to be at what days months in advance. ADR's already make us do that, and I hate that too. Not to mention, you might get stuck with bad times, or have an order that doesn't really make sense. Not to mention that if everyone comes to the resort with a ton of FP reservations, what's left for the folk that don't have them?

The most ignorant part of this plan is that Disney is well aware that guests are booking their vacations much closer to departure times than in year's past. It's why late adjustments to park hours are necessary because they're based largely on expected crowds/room reservations. The example that's often sighted is that the guests that were booking 6 months out, are now booking 6 weeks out.

Because of the reasons you stated above I really hope they make the reservation window something really small, like 12-24hrs before the park opens. This way (especially with the free WiFi and new apps being rolled out everywhere) guests could finish up a day in the parks, head back to their room, check the weather forecast for the next day, EMH's etc. and decide they will go to MK tomorrow. Then with the reservation window having just opened, they can use Disney's new app (I assume) and book a few FP's for the next day before hitting the hay. It's still not a perfectly spontaneous decision but at least it's better than booking 6mo out. While I have always been spontaneous in the parks, I wouldn't mind planning out everyday of my trip if it weren't for weather specifically when considering the water parks.

Oh but he DOES have the 7th largest private army in the world and he's not afraid to use it on unarmed citizens.

Go STAGGS!

IMO, those are the same questions.
