I don't distrust you, but sure hope you aren't just making that up to be some cyber hero.

Cyber hero, I've actually never heard that one. They gave a run down of every park, some items were underway, some items were in bold, some items were on the lower right corner of the presentation. I was talking about the list this morning at work, and a co-worker said "we'll probably only do a third of it". I looked at him and said "a third of it is a lot of work". It's going to be a good time in Florida.

Wait wait wait wait. Hold on. Give me a second to stop laughing. They would decide to build a park on a similar theme has one an hour away vs one right across the freeway. You are too funny. And that park an hour away certainly holds my interest for longer than five hours. Guess they lost that battle then, huh?

I doubt they considered Splendid China a real threat to WDW's parks. DAK and DHS are still works in progress. As evidenced by the Pandora add.

Splendid China? Wow, you must have never been to Florida in that case to think I was referencing that. DLR and DCA are a work in progress as well... works that have just not been neglected.

Perhaps you need to write with a bit more clarity.

It was beyond clear, probably too clear. I guess that just confirms you really know nothing of OTown.

This thread is about WDW and the new construction at DAK and Staggs visit to WDW. It is not a thread for making personal attacks on me or any other poster. Kindly refain and return to the subject at hand.

Oh no, don't backpedal now. I simply made a reply that pointed out the flaws in your point. You came back with some off the wall China thing and nothing near what my post pointed directly toward.

I don't understand why Disney would need to steal BGT's Theme in order to answer IoA, when they already offer more theme parks, water parks, outside activities and shopping opportunities than Universal does. If Disney really did that couldn't they have just pulled and slightly edited SWO's theme?

And come on this is a forum, how can anything get personal over a hole in a statement?

Hmm, apparently my post was as clear as I thought since you picked up on it. Welcome to the boards btw!

Try rewriting that original post because I have read it three times and still have no idea what you are trying to say.

Though I am excited about this kind of investment at WDW I can't help but think the area near RPW would have been better if the heights of Pandora will really be that high. I guess we have to trust they know what they are doing.

Why? That would be smack in the middle of the live animals and would have stuck out among the theming of Asia and Africa because you could probably end up seeing it from those lands.

Putting Pandora in a more isolated corner of the park allows for much more flexibility in terms of what can be done while not messing up sight lines. Plus, it will disperse crowds better around the park.

So what do the heights of the balloons tell us exactly? Is that how high the structures they are contemplating building are going to be? Or do they serve some other purpose?

I'm just a layman, but I would imagine that they put up a bunch of balloons to get idea about how high they could go and use that in their subsequent planning. I don't think they design something to a certain height and then test -- the trial balloons are an easy, cheap first step to prevent "going back to the drawing board" because something doesn't work.

So, I would guess that the highest balloons are far above what they are likely to do and they expect/plan to do something at least at the level of the lowest balloons. And it will probably end up somewhere in between.

Agree. This gives them elevations to work with as they plan. Odds are they have several plans, but will use this data to help finalize. Then TDO will cut 40% of the budget and they'll replan anyway.

Why would you think that? More importantly, why would you want to think that?
Nobody from Disney has officially or quasi-officially said anything of the sort. There's no reason to think that there will be more money spent in WDW just because the DCA expansion is wrapping up. I think if Disney really thought WDW needed more investment, they could have done it even with DCA, FL expansion, and the cruise ships launching. No reason to expect that to change, really. Other than Avatar turning into something good, my best hope is to get clones of cool things that DL and Shanghai are getting... isn't that how we got Mine Train?

obviously these are the floating mountains

I would think with all the practice they've gotten doing rock work lately, they could do the floating mountains as the backdrop for Pandora (like the Canyon they built for Carsland). Just would take some creative foliage/water work to hide the supports...

My first thoughts as well when seeing the balloons.

Pondering on this idea for a moment, one would think you could create a semi-rigid floating structure (plenty of rigid and semi-rigid airship designs to go off of) with a low visibility or mostly hidden tether.

How such a thing would fare in inclement weather might be a deal breaker, though.
