Screamscape has a photo this morning of the balloon test. Lots of them!

This had to be timed to Staggs visit and seems to confirm the tweet sent out by JR.

It has started.

Though I am excited about this kind of investment at WDW I can't help but think the area near RPW would have been better if the heights of Pandora will really be that high. I guess we have to trust they know what they are doing.

The entire point I made previous is that they no longer make announcements through the old media. Hello? Anyone home?
You made a statement that while "old media" hadn't posted anything about the ground breaking, you had seen at least 3 other places that had. I was legitimately excited that maybe there was something out there to see on the topic so I was asking where. Your response to that here was a bit unnecessarily rude.

Not sure what you are talking about since you failed to provide a quote. Perhaps you are being too sensitive.

The three places as I remember it were here at WDWMagic, JR's tweet, and that other place. Have a nice day.

No I got those wrong. That is why I did not break out my red font in response. Of course if there was not a Universal Studios it is doubtful there would ever have been a Disney/MGM park no matter which opened first. I would bet money that if IoA was not rumored or was even known about by the mouse that DAK would have ever happened either. The substance of my argument still stands despite being wrong about the exact order events happened.
What about the existence of Busch Gardens - did they have anything to do with DAK? Did the Kennedy Space Center have anything to do with building Mission: SPACE? Your point very well may be valid but you've been incorrect with what you're actually referencing.

Not sure what "that other place" is, but I was the one that posted here, in reference to Kevin Yee's tweet,
is he "JR"?

Looks to me like one tweet has been turned into three mentions. It's really one. (However, now
we have a balloon pic.

Anyway. Point being, it looks like "something" happened. From my point of view, the only indicators
were that single tweet, and now the pic of the balloons.

I wouldn't call that an official groundbreaking. I'll bet we see that sometime in the future, though.
I, personally, can see it being called "start of physical work", since someone obviously called for
some physical study with the balloons.

Really, all we're doing here is splitting hairs on definitions of things like "groundbreaking".
Something seems to have happened. That's it, from my point of view. What? We can only
guess, beyond balloons.

IoA or rumors of IoA was the main factor in building DAk while BG was the major factor in deciding on the theme for DAK. IMO.

I do believe it is very possible that the Space pavilion may have been scaled back due to back channel protests from the politically well connected folks at KSC. Again just my opinion.

"JR" is Joe Rhode. If the tweet is real then ground was "broken" and work is underway. It only makes sense that Staggs would have made a visit timed to this along with other matters.

I interpreted the Tweet as: "The design is now approved, time to roll up our sleeves and get to work." Not "We stuck shovels in dirt." I think the on-site balloons and big-wigs support that theory.

From the number of balloons, we have a lot to look forward to. This looks like a large expansion. At least in what would be an approved concept, not that that can't change.

So what do the heights of the balloons tell us exactly? Is that how high the structures they are contemplating building are going to be? Or do they serve some other purpose?

Possibly. Usually what they do with these is go to various places around the park they're in, plus outside and check to see how visible they are.

I find it interesting how many and how scattered they are.

Wait wait wait wait. Hold on. Give me a second to stop laughing. They would decide to build a park on a similar theme has one an hour away vs one right across the freeway. You are too funny. And that park an hour away certainly holds my interest for longer than five hours. Guess they lost that battle then, huh?
