I am still holding out hope for the discovery of a rare bird that has made TSI its home, which will necessitate land protection.

But this destruction of the placemaking of multiple lands of the park is not going to deal with Epic Universe... They have known about Epic for many many years and had time to come up with something but chose to wait... A Villain's themed coaster and a couple gift shops, and a Cars off road rally ride and a couple gift shops is not going to up Disney's game enough to compete with a whole new from-the-ground-up Theme park with all new state of the art rides and attractions... Adding a replacement for Chester and Hester and a re-skin of Dinosaur, while nice, is also not adding any new capacity to the park... DHS getting a Monsters Inc. coaster will be great, but again, it is one thing...in a park that desperately needs new attractions...
I'd say I agree with you 99/100 times. In this case, I think you underestimate the power of Disney and overestimate Epic Universe.

One miniland (Cars) can create enough buzz to get people talking and wanting to visit (let alone a Villains land).
While Encanto/Indy may not add new capacity, it'll be adding talked about attractions that replace stagnant sub-par attractions (not including Dinosaur in that).
So, in the battle against Epic, adding capacity means nothing if the attractions are worthy replacements for what was previously there. Same with Monsters...if they add a thrilling family coaster in a stagnant area of the park, it may not add capacity but it will add "buzz." (Ok, not Buzz, but Mike and Sully ;) )

Epic Universe will be great...but I don't think it'll really put much of a dent into Disney for any long-term affect. It'll help Universal immensely but Disney will be just fine rounding out their current park rosters.

I remember following the construction progress of Islands Of Adventures and visiting within a month of when it opened. People were saying that IOA was going to "blow Disney out of the water". It did not.

IOA was a great park. Port of entry was gorgeous and Mythos was a memorable meal+vibe. I also remember thinking the the cat in the hat dark ride was as a new standard - or rather, Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin did it first. Dudley Do Right Falls surprised the hell out of me. Did not expect it to be that aggressive. The winner at IOA was Spiderman. THAT was the big take-away from that park.

Bottom line - IOA did NOT blow Disney away - and I predict, neither will EPIC.

Agreed, it will not "blow Disney away" but it definitely will help Universal. Having a 3rd theme park along with the water park will hurt Disney more than IoA did (not as a single new park but as a destination rather than a day away from a Disney vacation).

IOA is a great park...totally different vibe from the Disney parks.... But great... EPIC looks like it is going to be amazing... I personally could care less about Nintendo, but the new Potter section, THe Universal Monsters Land and everything else look like they are going to be spectacular... I think they are going to need their expansion pads in short order... it is going to be a popular park... and sure it will draw guests away from Disney's too few and far-between additions... Hopefully the newly announced stuff will happen in a timely manner.....

Totally agree. With the price for a one day ticket on all Disney Parks reaching $200, EACH park should give the paying customer a full day of entertainment. There should be a Minimum of 20 attractions per park. Currently only the MK has 20. As a life long fan of WDW, I consider this the biggest failure of Disney's Corp leadership.

Agreed, and that’s 20 assuming none are closed for refurbishment, or demolished behind walls for a replacement that is 5 to 7 years away.
