Okay, can you explain to me how the hat is technologically any better than the Earth barge in RoE (obviously besides it being on a larger scale)?

It's a constantly transforming stage and the bulbs seem to have a more well put together image then the Illuminations globe

The screen has a higher resolution, portions of the hat retracts, there are water cannons are installed in its base, and it appears that there are mortars positioned inside and out.

Okay, so as opposed to the Earth barge which has a (possibly) lower resolution (though I'm not sure if that is true)... which essentially retracts and and transforms into the "flower" with the torch inside... and has mortars positioned inside and out. Oh wait... I just described the same exact thing.

Again it's done in a slightly different way... but there is nothing technologically outstanding about the hat. And personally, I don't think it is anywhere near amazing as the Memories projectors in DL & WDW.

The only thing amazing about the projectors for memories is that they use a video file that has the castle as the background. They are able to make it look heavily detailed by using 16 projectors, about the same tech as circle vision 360.

I love that TDS's version of Fantasmic! is not a direct lift of the original. Rather its been re imagined and updated with a different take. Now if Chernabog popped out of Mt. Prometheus I would have no words.

Fantasmic! and World of Color had a baby and IMO it looks just fine.

I think that is a perfect way of describing it, most of us will never make it to TDS to see it, WDW will probably not get an updated version for YEARS as TDO is a bunch of cheap a$$ people:fork:

Just out of curiosity, how much (in the ballpark) do plane tickets to Tokyo generally cost (on a good day, with 14 days advance, say) from major East Coast hubs, like, say, Washington, DC?

Anyone here have any idea?

I don't think there's many people in this thread that prefer the Florida version to the Disneyland version.

For me, it has less to do with the actual show and more with where the show is located. It's easier to literally see it in Florida. It's a stadium so there's no trying to jump over people in front of you. I also find the people who visit Florida's parks to be more friendly than California's.

Being from California, I've always found the people there to be kind of rude and was shocked when I went to Walt Disney World for the first time and saw how friendly everyone was. Maybe it's just several bad experiences in my family, but that's how we've always seen it. I do understand, however, that not everyone has the same experience.

Putting all that aside, California's show is better as a show. I don't think it has so much to do with old vs. new films as it does the quality put into it. If DHS had that same quality, I think it would be just as good still using the exact same films it does now. TDO is the problem with Florida's show.

Japan's version looks nice, but it wouldn't work here unless Fantasmic was moved to Epcot or something (out of theme). I think it's one of those shows that needs to be reimagined every time it's made.

For me, Detroit to Tokyo with a layover in Chicago both ways round trip, 3 months in advance of the initial flight was about $1,200 for economy on United. As in, the round-trip ticket was $1,200 not $1,200 one-way. Be prepared though, because if you get it non-stop or even with a layover from the midwest to Tokyo, it will be one of the most boring flights you will ever take. Going there took 13 hours.

Orbitz has a round trip from Dulles to tokyo with a stop in lax, 1240 per person.
